Vandelay Sound Exports, Inc. is seeking a skilled Cable Repair Technician to join our team on a contract basis. We value high-quality, professional work to maintain our audio, video, and data cabling systems for our production equipment. Job Description:

The role focuses on repairing and fabricating cables (Cat5e+, XLR, lavalier connectors, fiber, etc.) with potential for basic hardware repairs. You will also manage inventory for parts and tools to ensure professional, efficient repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform high-quality repairs and fabrication of Cat5, XLR, lavalier, and other AV/data cables.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot cable-related issues to ensure optimal performance.

• Maintain and manage an inventory of parts and tools required for repairs, ensuring adequate stock for monthly visits.

• Conduct occasional simple hardware repairs related to cabling systems (e.g., connectors, jacks, or basic AV equipment).

• Provide professional, timely service during scheduled monthly visits (8 hours/month).

• Document work performed and inventory usage for transparency with internal repair ticket system.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience in low-voltage cabling, AV systems, or similar technical repair roles.

• Proficiency in cable repair and fabrication (e.g., terminating Cat5e+, fiber connectors, soldering XLR/lav connectors).

• Knowledge of inventory management for tools and parts (e.g., connectors, cables, crimpers).

• Experience and knowledge of proper RF shielding and electrical systems testing.

• Familiarity with basic hardware troubleshooting and repair (e.g., AV equipment, connectors).

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to professional-quality work.

• Reliable transportation to our Dallas office for monthly visits.

• Preferred: Certifications such as BICSI, CNCI, or equivalent AV/cabling credentials.

Schedule & Commitment:

• 8 hours per month, scheduled in advance, to be performed on-site at our Dallas office.

• Flexible scheduling, 7 days a week.

• Potential for additional hours based on project needs.

Compensation & Benefits:

• $30–$40/hour, based on experience and qualifications.

• Reimbursement for approved parts/tools purchases for inventory maintenance.

• Opportunity for ongoing contract with potential for expanded responsibilities.
