DASS is seeking an Events Coordinator to plan and execute DASS events around the Democratic National Convention in Chicago August 19-22, 2024.

Events Coordinator

As Events Coordinator, the primary focus this cycle will be to plan and execute DASS events around the Democratic National Convention in Chicago August 19-22, 2024, as well as execution of events/programming around bi-annual conferences. This position will also work on smaller scale in-person and virtual events as needed.

Using strong organizational skills, the Events Coordinator is expected to balance multiple priorities from concept to completion while working independently as part of a remote team. 

This position reports to the Director of Candidate and Donor Services and is remotely based through 2023, with the potential to be remote through the 2024 cycle – though you may be asked to travel to some events and coordinate travel in connection with DASS meetings and events


  • Responsible for all DASS travel and meetings and events throughout the country including recruiting hosts for events in national conferences, for the Democratic National Convention (DNC), and additional events throughout the cycle. 
  • Direct the activities related to the DNC for DASS, including planning of events, coordination with fellow DNC affiliate committees, Secretaries of State and their staff; coordination with DNC staff as it relates to lodging, ticketing, security, and additional logistics.
  • Identify and recommend locations for events in Chicago that may include :high dollar fundraisers, grassroots fundraisers, labor roundtables, etc.
  • Work with the Director of Donor and Candidate Services and Executive Director on budget and goals for events; ensure excellent communication throughout the planning process.
  • Coordinate with DASS staff and consultants effectively and ensure impeccable communication on logistical planning, schedules of Secretaries of State attending, security needs and requirements, venue capacity, cost, run of show.
  • Coordinate with venue on logistics, AV needs, etc
  • Create a run of show, oversee briefings, and any other pertinent details for the convention and individual events to be distributed to Secretary’s of State and staff.
  • Attend DNC convention meetings and lead internal DNC meetings with DASS consultants and staff as needed; including leading regular internal calls.
  • Run point on additional events including DASS events around biannual NASS conference. 
  • Identify locations for events, work with vendors to stay within budget and ensure that all logistical needs are met. 
  • Plan, execute, and create briefing for the run of show for the entire conference and each individual event. 
  • Work with DASS consultants and staff on budget, planning, communication to Secretary’s of State and their staff, donors, labor groups, associations, etc.
  • Prospecting/Recruiting events hosts
  • Other duties as assigned


  • An ideal candidate would have experience as a Finance Director on a congressional race, or Deputy Finance Director on a statewide campaign, or equivocal experience at a large organization or non-profit – with significant experience running events programming. 
  • Not required, but helpful: 
  • Previous experience in project/budget management a plus
  • Relationships with democratic staff and organizations, especially those involved in conventions, a plus.
  • Experience with labor groups, associations, PACs a plus.
  • Previous experience with large scale events is preferred, especially with previous DNC events or other large scale Democratic party events.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective organizational skills.
  • Exemplary problem-solving, interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Salary for the Events Coordinator position is $6,000-$7,000 on a monthly basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. DASS offers a generous benefit package, including:
