The Mission of the Del Norte Child Care Council (DNCCC) is to promote and encourage the healthy growth, education, care, and development of children through increased community and family awareness of children’s needs. Supporting services for Del Norte County by bringing families and professional resources in, child care subsidy, family child care referrals, the food program for family child care providers, toy lending library, school readiness, child abuse prevention, car seat lending, child care centers for preschool, after school care, and more.

Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

·        Answer phones, greet public, assists parents & providers and staff as needed.

 

·        Maintains neat and professional environment in the reception area.

 

·        Schedules appointments, make appointment reminder calls and answers inquiries.

 

·        Writes, types or enters information into computer to prepare correspondence, reports, statements, receipts, memos or other documents.

 

·        Maintains confidentiality regarding all client/provider data.

 

·        Receives, records and confirms deposit of walk-in parent fee payments.

 

·        Acts as Safety Coordinator for the Agency.

 

·        Arranges for equipment and facility repairs.

 

·        Orders office supplies and maintains inventory.

 

·        May occasionally make travel arrangements for Agency staff.

 

·        Responsible for taking monthly staff meeting minutes.

 

·        Picks up & routes daily incoming mail. Stamps and sorts daily outgoing mail.

 

·        Responsible for monitoring postage meter usage. Prepares breakdown by program as necessary.

 

·        Prepares monthly breakdown of copier usage by program for billing and allocation.

 

·        Maintains electronic DNCCC & AP calendars.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to nine months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Professional phone skills and the ability to effectively deal with the public.

Ability to read and comprehend routine instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients, and other employees of the organization.

Bilingual skills helpful.

Business arithmetic, including decimals and percentages.

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.

California driver’s license, valid automobile insurance and use of vehicle for work.

Knowledge of PC’s, including Microsoft Office and Excel software.

Basic typing skills.

Clerical skills a must.

Ability to interact with a variety of people from different cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, outside agencies and the general public.

Uses knowledge of community resources to meet the needs of families and providers.

Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
