An effective Project Engineer will be responsible and accountable for all engineering and technical disciplines that projects involve. You will schedule, plan, forecast, resource, and manage all the technical activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion. Coordination is key here along with organization. While you may not personally execute every portion of a project, you will typically be the final accountability point monitoring, tracking, and ensuring that every phase is effectively executed. Having a strong attention to detail is necessary to complete work as required. Possessing a good understanding of workflow throughout all the departments of the company. Having pride and taking ownership of all work performed.

Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Treat all fellow employees with respect.

  • Develop P&ID’s based off of site visit or verbal instruction from another college.
  • Complete all tasks in a safe manner and safely use all elevating equipment.
  • Estimate projects pre-sale and follow through into projects.
  • Conserve resources whenever possible to ensure budgetary integrity and customer satisfaction.
  • Have a good understanding of material and equipment within the processing field.
  • Complete tasks in the most efficient way without compromising quality.
  • Using math and measurement skills, including the use of tape measure, calculator, calipers, squares, levels, clamps and straps.
  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor the assigned engineering projects.
  • Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications.
  • Stay up to date on current GMP execution and applicable regulatory compliance.
  • Interact daily with the clients to interpret their needs and requirements and represent them in the field (will vary based on PM assignments and project-specific communication requirements).
  • Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel’s performance) and report regularly on project status.
  • Cooperate and communicate effectively with project manager and other project participants to provide assistance and technical support.
  • Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Assist with definitions and scope generation in the event of a change order.
  • Working well with a team with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure the working environment is clean and safe.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time which will involve overnight stays. Mostly in the Midwest region of the U.S. but does include other parts of the U.S. and occasional international locations.
  • Must be able to acquire a Passport and maintain personnel background such that individual can enter Canada for contract employment.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.


Education and Work Experience:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal personnel.
  • Must be able to maintain composure when under pressure and work with a team to meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive, professional attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Must be a self-managing individual that will take ownership of assigned project.
  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Must be proficient in the skill organizing information received and communicating back with DeJong group or other venders.
  • Proven working experience as a Project Engineer
  • Professional and effective in communication
  • Excellent knowledge of design and visualization software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices, and performance standards
  • Ability to work with multi-discipline projects.
  • Project management and supervision skills
  • Decision making ability and leadership skills
  • Current engineer license
  • Time management and organization skills
  • BS degree in Engineering or relevant field


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 12-16 hours a day.
  • Must be able to work from a desk 10-12 hours a day
  • Ability to walk, climb ladders, bend, lift and carry up to 50 pounds in an industrial plant.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly in person or via phone.


Pay: Starting $75,000
