At DeJong, we’re a rapidly growing company with deep expertise in sanitary and process engineering. Our work plays a vital role in advancing health, safety, and innovation across critical industries, including food, nutraceutical, and biotechnology. Our motto says it all: No project too big, no customer too small. If you're looking for meaningful technical challenges and the opportunity to make a real impact, you’ll feel right at home here.

We’re proud of our employee and family-first culture. We believe in work-life balance and understand that life doesn’t pause for work. While we hold ourselves to high standards and expect excellence in everything we do, we also encourage our team to enjoy time with their loved ones. At DeJong, you're not just a number or a timecard—you're family. Every person here matters.

About this role:

As a Process Engineer at DeJong, you will play a key role in driving successful engineering projects by scheduling, planning, forecasting, and procuring resources to deliver innovative process solutions. You’ll collaborate across all facets of the company to design and execute cutting-edge process systems for food, nutraceutical, and biotech facilities.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is a problem solver, a self-starter, and an entrepreneurial thinker. Leadership and adaptability are essential, as you’ll work directly with customers both face-to-face and via Teams video. You will coordinate meetings, manage communication with clients and vendors, and ensure issues are resolved quickly and effectively.

In this position, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that project action items are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards—making a direct impact on the success of our projects and the satisfaction of our clients.

What you will do:

  • Apply engineering problem-solving skills to identify issues, develop solutions, and drive them to resolution.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, SOPs, and CIP procedures, work instructions, and other engineering deliverables.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and clients to evaluate new equipment, process technologies, and project requirements.
  • Prepare and issue RFQs and assist with scope generation and change orders as needed.
  • Provide support during equipment installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (3A, USDA, FDA, GMP, etc.), as well as QA/QC policies and performance standards.
  • Optimize resources and oversee project execution to maintain budget, schedule, and quality.
  • Conduct regular project status reporting and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
  • Work both independently and in collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Be available to work remotely, in-office (Edgar, WI), and travel up to 30% within the U.S., with occasional international travel. A valid driver’s license and passport are required.

What we are looking for:

  • BS degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Food Science Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Preferred: 5+ years’ experience in hygienic process system design, including equipment and instrumentation selection.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and advanced MS Office.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively convey information to internal teams, vendors, and clients.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining professionalism under pressure and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills with experience in multi-disciplinary project environments.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and applicable regulatory requirements.
