The Information, Referral and Assistance (IRA) Coordinator provides direct support, advocacy, referrals, and coordination services for Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard of Hearing, LateDeafened, and hearing individuals seeking community resources and support services. This position helps individuals navigate programs, benefits, housing resources, healthcare systems, employment resources, transportation services, and other community-based services. This role requires expert organization, documentation, problem solving, cultural competency, and communication skills in both American Sign Language (ASL) and written English. The IRA Coordinator works closely with community partners, internal staff, and external agencies to help ensure individuals receive timely and accurate support.

Description

Client Intake and Assessment: 

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services, referrals, follow up activities, and case notes. 
  • Provide needs assessment to identify immediate, short-term, and long-term needs 
  • Assess communication access needs and identify barriers related to healthcare, employment, education, housing and community services. 
  • Support individuals in problem solving and navigating barriers to services. 
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and organizational information. 

 

Case Coordination and Documentation: 

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services, referrals, follow up activities, and case notes. 
  • Track service data and assist with reporting requirements. 
  • Monitor client follow up needs and coordinate ongoing communication. 
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical records in accordance with organizational procedures. 
  • Support operational compliance with documentation standards and grant-related requirements. 

 

Community Engagement and Collaboration: 

  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with community organizations, service providers, and agencies. 
  • Participate in outreach activities, presentations, resource fairs, and community events. 
  • Assist with identifying service gaps and community needs. 
  • Collaborate with internal departments to support organizational goals and client services. 

 

Administrative and Operational Support: 

  • Assist with scheduling, correspondence, data entry, and resource tracking. 
  • Maintain updated resource lists and referral information. 
  • Support department workflows and operational needs. 
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and organizational activities as assigned. 

 

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 

 

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL). 
  • Efficient written communication skills in English. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in community services, advocacy, nonprofit services, case coordination, or related work. 
  • Efficient organization, time management, and documentation skills. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. 
  • Proficiency with Office 365, Outlook, databases, and general office technology. 
  • Understanding of the needs and experiences of Deaf communities. 

 

 

DESIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 

 

  • Associate degree or higher in Human Services, Social Work, Community Services, or related field. 
  • Experience working in nonprofit or community-based organizations. 
  • Experience with case management systems or reporting databases. 
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal community resources. 
  • Experience providing advocacy or crisis support services.
