Job Title: Shipping & Receiving Associate 

Location: Greenwood, SC 

Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-exempt (Hourly) 

Reports To: Production Manager 

Dotted Line Coordination: Purchasing Specialist 


Position Summary 


The Shipping & Receiving Associate is responsible for the accurate execution of inbound and outbound material movements at Datum’s manufacturing facility. This role ensures materials, components, and finished goods are received, documented, staged, and shipped in accordance with work instructions, shipping documentation, and direction from the Production Manager. The Shipping & Receiving Associate supports production continuity by ensuring materials flow into and out of the facility accurately, safely, and on time. 


Core Responsibilities 

  • Receive inbound raw materials, components, and supplies in accordance with delivery documentation and site procedures. 
  • Verify inbound shipments against packing slips, bills of lading, and purchase documentation, escalating discrepancies, damage, or quality concerns to the Purchasing Specialist. 
  • Prepare outbound shipments of finished goods and components, including staging, labeling, and documentation per shipping instructions. 
  • Coordinate pickup readiness with carriers as scheduled, without direct carrier negotiation or rate setting. 
  • Maintain accurate physical organization of receiving and shipping areas to ensure safe and efficient material flow. 
  • Support cycle counts, inventory spot checks, and identification of low-inventory or excess materials as directed by the Production Manager or Purchasing Specialist. 
  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment in accordance with training and safety requirements. 
  • Follow all safety, quality, and documentation procedures, including proper handling of damaged, suspect, or non-conforming materials. 


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Prior experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or manufacturing environments preferred. 
  • Ability to read and interpret shipping documents such as packing slips, bills of lading, labels, and basic inventory documentation. 
  • Forklift or powered industrial truck experience preferred, or ability to obtain certification upon hire. 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized processes and work instructions. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly with production, purchasing, and operations personnel. 
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and disciplined execution in a factory environment. 


Work Environment & Physical Requirements  

  • Based onsite at Datum’s Greenwood, SC manufacturing facility. 
  • Regular work in receiving bays, shipping areas, warehouse zones, and production-adjacent spaces. 
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday. 
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull materials up to 50 lbs. 
  • Frequent use of forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, and shipping equipment. 
  • Required use of PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots. 
  • Exposure to noise, moving equipment, and seasonal temperature variations typical of a manufacturing and logistics environment.
