Position: Associate Therapist (LMSW)
The Associate Therapist will provide individual and/or couples/relationship/family therapy services under the supervision of a licensed clinical supervisor. This role offers valuable experience in delivering evidence-based therapy, while ensuring guidance and support from a supervisor. The Associate Therapist is expected to gradually build client retention and clinical proficiency. In this capacity, you will perform duties and responsibilities that are consistent with an associate-level position, as outlined below. You will report directly to a Staff Supervisory Therapist, who will provide regular supervision and feedback to support your professional growth.
Responsibilities of the Associate Therapist:
- Client Care and Therapy Sessions
- Conduct a minimum of 23 supervised therapy sessions per week, unless otherwise discussed [expectation upon reaching full caseload].
- Facilitate individual therapy sessions, adapting evidence-based approaches under supervision to address clients' unique needs and goals.
- Perform assessments and develop treatment plans, with supervisor guidance, that address clients' mental health concerns.
- Create a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to share their thoughts, emotions, and experiences.
- Treatment Planning and Intervention
- Collaborate with clients, under supervision, to set treatment goals and monitor progress.
- Apply various therapeutic modalities, emphasizing evidence-based practices, with guidance.
- Regularly assess client progress, adjusting strategies in collaboration with the supervisor to enhance treatment efficacy.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records, including session notes, assessments, and treatment plans, in compliance with organizational and ethical standards.
- Ensure all documentation is reviewed by your supervisor.
- Collaborative and Ethical Practice
- Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals when coordinating care, under supervisor oversight.
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards as set forth by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC) or relevant licensing body, seeking supervisor guidance for ethical decision-making as needed.

- Professional Development
- Engage in ongoing professional development, including regular individual and group supervision sessions with your clinical supervisor.
- Stay informed of developments in evidence-based therapies, bringing new ideas to supervision for potential integration into your practice.
- Actively participate in team meetings, case consultations, and in-service training as part of your growth as a clinician.
- Seek consultation or supervision in challenging cases and crisis interventions to build skills in effective clinical responses.
