Cyberhill Partners is seeking a highly experienced Solutions Engineer with an active TS/SCI clearance and a strong background in Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA). This role is mission-critical and will focus on advancing secure digital transformation across CyberHill’s portfolio companies, with particular emphasis on defense, national security, and government-adjacent sectors. You’ll serve as both a technical leader and a trusted advisor, driving secure architecture design, implementation, and strategy with Zero Trust principles at the core.

Key Responsibilities

Zero Trust Design & Implementation

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable Zero Trust architectures tailored for defense, government, and highly regulated sectors.
  • Implement secure access models including identity-aware proxies, microsegmentation, device trust, and adaptive policy enforcement.
  • Integrate ZTA with enterprise security tools (e.g., SIEM, IAM, endpoint detection) and across cloud/on-prem/hybrid infrastructures.

Portfolio & Strategic Engagement

  • Advise portfolio company leadership teams and CTO/CISO offices on Zero Trust roadmaps, capability gaps, and architectural alignment with federal cybersecurity mandates (e.g., EO 14028, NIST 800-207).
  • Conduct security assessments and solution design workshops to accelerate Zero Trust maturity.

Secure Engineering Enablement

  • Create reference architectures, engineering templates, and implementation playbooks for repeatable Zero Trust deployment.
  • Collaborate with DevSecOps teams to embed ZTA into CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes environments, and Infrastructure-as-Code platforms.

Compliance & Risk Mitigation

  • Ensure architecture alignment with frameworks like NIST 800-53, CMMC 2.0, and DoD Zero Trust Strategy.
  • Provide technical input on system authorization packages and contribute to ATO processes in classified or FedRAMP environments.

Required Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance (required on day one).
  • 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, including 3+ years directly focused on Zero Trust implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting secure systems for federal agencies, DoD, or cleared environments.
  • Expertise with Zero Trust-aligned technologies such as Okta, Zscaler, BeyondCorp, Illumio, Palo Alto, CrowdStrike, and identity/access control platforms.
  • Familiarity with secure cloud architecture (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or classified cloud environments).
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • Deep familiarity with NIST 800-207, DoD Zero Trust Reference Architecture, or CISA Zero Trust Maturity Model.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CEH, or Certified Zero Trust Architect (CZTA).
  • Experience working with classified systems, cross-domain solutions, or mission-focused secure enclaves.
