Performs computer systems support work in a Network Operations Center. Work involves providing first-line assistance for operational problems of client information technology systems and automated office equipment in a stand-alone, network, and cloud environments. Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Windows endpoints, and Cisco networks is desired.

Description

Job Tasks

  • Reviews and prioritizes incoming operational issues and requests for technical assistance related to computers, software, and standard office equipment; identifies and logs the type of problem or request; and monitors the status to ensure a timely resolution.
  • Provides technical assistance for software and hardware problems, as well as office equipment such as phones and printers; recognizes and escalates difficult problems to a higher level of support.
  • Provides guidance to employees on installation standards, operating standards, new procedures, and peripheral equipment functions.
  • Assists in maintaining records of daily data communication transactions, problems, remedial actions taken, and installation activities in the client support hub.
  • Assists with equipment set up for employee use, including the installation of operating systems or appropriate software.
  • Assists in the update of computers and applications through the RMM tool.
  • Assists in maintaining inventory of equipment through the network scanning tool.
  • May assign logons and rights, print queues, and directory structures; reset passwords; create departmental groups; and run security software.
  • Assists in advising management and users regarding security configurations and procedures.
  • May develop information technology disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • May assist in encrypting data transmissions and defining firewall configuration to protect confidential information in transit.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Experience and Education

Experience in computer systems support work. Graduation from a college or university with a degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent degree supplemented by courses in computer science, is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the practices, principles, and techniques of computer operations; of information systems; of computer software and hardware; and of information security policies and procedures.
  • Skill in the support of computers, in the use of applicable programs and systems, and in troubleshooting information systems.
  • Ability to operate information technology systems, and to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to use or quickly learn the following tools: Microsoft 365 admin console, Cisco Meraki admin console, a trouble ticketing system, Microsoft Teams or Slack, an RMM tool such as Ninja, Datto, etc.

Salary

$45,000 - $65,000 per year
