As the Vice President of Business Development for Culmination Bio, you will play a crucial role in driving the growth and success of this company. You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, fostering strategic partnerships, and expanding the organizations customer base within the life science industry. Your expertise in understanding how to match the multi-modal data, bio specimen, and data analytics needs of life science organizations with the capabilities that Culmination Bio offers the marketplace will be instrumental in shaping the company's overall business development strategy.

Responsibilities

Business Development Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with the company goals and objectives.
  • Identify market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Evaluate potential growth opportunities, including new markets, partnerships, and product/service offerings.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends and potential business opportunities.

Partnership Development:

  • Identify and establish strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in organizations including pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms and diagnostic companies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to negotiate and structure partnerships that enhance the organizations product/service portfolio and generate revenue growth.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing partners, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and identifying upselling/cross-selling opportunities.

New Business Acquisition:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the organizations customer base.
  • Lead the entire sales cycle, from prospecting and lead generation to deal closure and contract negotiation.
  • Develop and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to prospective clients, highlighting the organizations value proposition and differentiators.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless onboarding and implementation of new clients.

Key Account Management:

  • Manage and nurture relationships with key accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction and maximizing revenue potential.
  • Collaborate with the commercial team to identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Monitor market trends and customer feedback to anticipate changing needs and proactively address customer concerns.

Team Leadership:

  • Work within a team of business development professionals, contributing your expertise to help guide and support strategy and innovation.
  • Set clear performance goals and objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented culture within the business development team.


Requirements

  • Masters degree in life sciences, business administration, or a related field. An advanced degree (Ph.D.) is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships within the life science industry.
  • Strong knowledge of life science research and development, data management and bio specimen collection.
  • Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth, establishing strategic partnerships, and expanding customer base.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze market trends and develop actionable business development strategies.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to travel as required to attend conferences, industry events, and client meetings.
