Description

About Crew Finance

Anchored in Santa Monica with crewmates across the U.S., Crew Finance is a specialized consulting firm providing fractional finance and accounting expertise to high-growth startups in Consumer, Tech, and SaaS. We serve some of the brightest emerging brands in the game and we take their financial health seriously.

Working at Crew means wearing multiple client hats simultaneously. It's dynamic, it's varied, and it keeps things interesting. You won't be doing the same thing for the same company forever. You'll be doing smart, meaningful work across a portfolio of companies that actually need you.

What You'll Actually Do

As Manager of Client Onboarding & Success, you own the journey from signed contract to happy, stable client. You're the person who makes sure the handoff from sales doesn't feel like a relay race where someone drops the baton. You bridge business development, operations, and delivery,  and you do it with warmth, clarity, and follow-through.

Sales Handoff & Client Intake

  • Translate what sales promised into what operations needs to deliver (this requires actually understanding both)
  • Gather and organize client discovery info, priorities, timelines, and any complexity flags
  • Build consistency into intake and handoff so nothing falls through the cracks

Client Onboarding (Your Main Stage)

  • Own the client relationship from signed agreement through successful launch. You're the face of Crew in those early weeks
  • Run kickoff meetings, manage timelines, handle documentation, and make clients feel like they made the right call hiring us
  • Lead software integrations (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Bill.com, and friends) and troubleshoot access issues before day one  because surprises are fun at parties, not at launch
  • Partner with the Sr. Director of Operations on contract review, resource readiness, and referrals
  • Stay in daily sync with the Operations Specialist and show up sharp to Lifecycle and Capacity meetings
  • Write detailed post-meeting recaps that people actually read and act on

Client Success (The Long Game)

  • Own proactive 30/60/90-day check-ins, not as a formality, but as a genuine relationship-building tool
  • Catch problems before they become escalations (your accounting background means you'll often spot the issue before the client names it)
  • Coordinate solutions across internal stakeholders when things get complex
  • Be the trusted voice clients call when something feels off and you know how to actually fix it

Capacity Planning Support

  • Surface resource needs and flag constraints as new clients come onboard
  • Keep the Sr. Director of Operations ahead of volume so we're never scrambling to staff a new client at the last minute
  • Contribute to capacity reporting with the kind of clarity only someone who loves a good system can bring

Process Improvement (Build the Playbook)

  • Document what works, fix what doesn't, and build repeatable playbooks for handoff, onboarding, and early client success
  • Track recurring friction points, find them  and turn them into recommendations
  • Help Crew scale a more consistent, professional client experience without losing the human touch

What We're Looking For

Let's be direct: the accounting expertise is non-negotiable. The client skills are what make you exceptional. Here's the full picture:

The Foundation (Required)

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a client services organization — you've done the work, not just managed people who do it
  • Strong, genuine understanding of accounting principles
  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or related field; CPA preferred and genuinely valued
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Bill.com, Gusto, Shopify, or similar platforms
  • Background in professional services, outsourced services, or consulting

The Differentiator (What Makes You Special)

  • You're the person clients actually want to talk to, not because you have all the answers immediately, but because you make them feel like they're in good hands while you find them
  • Highly organized and proactive; you're building systems before anyone asks, not scrambling after something breaks
  • Comfortable in ambiguity;  startups are messy and you don't need everything buttoned up to do great work
  • Strong written and verbal communication, your emails get read, your recaps get used, your calls end with clarity
  • Startup experience, especially with CPG companies, is a genuine plus
  • Able to manage demanding, founder-led clients without losing your cool or your warmth

The ideal candidate has probably been told 'you're really good with clients for an accountant' more than once. That's the job.

Why Crew

  • Fractional work means exposure to dozens of different business models, industries, and challenges. Your brain will not get bored
  • A team of smart, collaborative people who care about doing right by clients
  • The opportunity to build something;  this role has room to grow as Crew grows
  • Remote-first, with a culture that trusts you to manage your time and do excellent work

If this sounds like the role you didn't know you were waiting for, we'd love to hear from you.
