Description

Flooring Installer Job Description

Craftsman Hardwood Flooring | San Angelo, TX Full-Time

Who We Are

Craftsman Hardwood Flooring is a high-end wood flooring company specializing in hardwood installation, sanding and finishing, custom and patterned flooring, stair systems, and restoration. We exist to do excellent work and build a culture where every craftsman wins — not just as a tagline, but as the way we actually operate.

We have invested in systems, training, career development, and performance standards that go well beyond what most flooring or construction companies offer. This is not a dead-end trade job. This is a career path.

What We're Looking For

We are not simply hiring laborers. We are looking for future craftsmen.

Flooring experience is preferred, but it is not required. Character, work ethic, learning ability, and craftsmanship potential matter more to us than a resume. The best indicator we've found? Find someone who builds things when nobody is paying them.

If you take pride in quality work, like solving problems with your hands, retain training, and want to grow in a structured trades environment — we want to talk to you.

The Role

The Flooring Installer is a full-time, field-based position covering the complete lifecycle of a flooring project — from site prep and subfloor work through final installation, finishing, and cleanup. You will work alongside experienced craftsmen, develop real skills, and grow into greater responsibility over time.

Core Responsibilities

  • Assess job sites; identify subfloor issues, moisture concerns, or complications before beginning work
  • Remove existing flooring; clean, patch, and level subfloors to a professional standard
  • Measure, calculate, and cut hardwood, LVP, tile, carpet, and trim to precise specifications
  • Install flooring using adhesives, nails, staples, mortar, or interlocking systems per manufacturer specs
  • Apply finishes, grout, sealants, and stains; install transitions, baseboards, and trim
  • Maintain a clean, safe job site throughout; remove all debris at project completion
  • Interact professionally with customers; represent the Craftsman name in every home you enter
  • Follow company systems, digital checklists, and SOPs consistently

What You Bring

Non-Negotiables

  • Genuine enjoyment of physical, hands-on work — this is not optional
  • Personal responsibility: you show up, keep commitments, and own your mistakes
  • Attention to detail and a standard for quality that bothers you when it's not met
  • Ability to retain training and apply it consistently — not just a willingness to learn
  • Coachable: you accept feedback, adjust, and improve without defensiveness
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites in and around San Angelo

Preferred (not required)

  • Experience in hardwood flooring, LVP, tile, carpet, or a related finish trade
  • Background in woodworking, cabinetry, trim carpentry, construction, or remodeling
  • Comfort with basic technology: smartphone, company apps, digital checklists

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry materials up to 75–100 lbs
  • Kneel, bend, crouch, and stand for extended periods throughout the workday
  • Work indoors and occasionally outdoors; must be able to work in Texas conditions when required

Compensation & Career Path

There is no artificial cap on earning potential.
