About Us:

The Craftsbury Outdoor Center (COC) is a community-focused athletic training facility and outdoor destination located on a lakeside campus in Craftsbury, Vermont. Your familiarity with and enthusiasm for working and playing in a small and rural community will help the COC achieve our Mission

·     To support and promote participation and excellence in lifelong sports with a special focus on Rowing, Cross Country Skiing, Biathlon and Running.

·        To use and teach sustainable practices.

·        To protect and manage the surrounding land, lake and trails.


Position Summary:

As a full-time Lead Cook, you will have the luxuries of working with fresh ingredients from our on-site gardens, and a spacious modern kitchen. The dining hall operates seasonally, May-October and November-March, serving three buffet-style meals a day to approximately 120 guests. Our kitchen serves guests, resident athletes, Olympians, coaches and staff members. This position requires a flexible schedule with willingness, availability, and commitment to working during an evening shift(s), weekend day(s), and some holidays.


Pay:

The starting pay for this position is $23 per hour.


How to succeed in this role:

Supervision: Ensure that the team you are leading for a meal is comfortable, confident, and well prepared.

Meal Prep: Prepare and serve all components of meal according to recipes, and safe practices and procedures to guarantee quality and consistency.

Menu planning / Inventory Management: Contribute to menu planning meetings and monitor and share needs for ingredient or supplies in a timely manner.

Quality Control / Safety: Adhere to safe practices for food preparation, cooking operations, and food storage and disposal.

Communication: Develop healthy and respectful working relationships with Executive Chef, Prep Cooks, Bakers, Dishwashers, and other employees and guests of the Outdoor Center.

Problem Solving / Flexibility: Respond to known and unpredicted situations with calmness and professionalism.

Full-time employees (minimum of 28 hours worked per week) will receive:
