The Craftsbury Outdoor Center (COC) is a community-focused athletic training facility and outdoor destination located on a lakeside campus in Craftsbury, Vermont. Your familiarity with and admiration for working and playing in a small and rural community will help the COC achieve our Mission:

Position Summary:
The Craftsbury Outdoor Center is seeking a multi-talented individual to join its current coaching staff to assist with coaching junior/youth cross country skiing and learn-to-ride bike programs. The Craftsbury Ski Club (CSC) operates under the umbrella of the Outdoor Center and serves roughly 300 people aged 6-85 in pursuit of the goal of “lifelong ski development,” from learn-to-ski programs to highly competitive junior programs. Most of our coaches also work with our bike programs, particularly our Wheels On Wheels learn-to-ride program and/or other mountain bike programs.
Pay:
Commensurate with experience. Likely in the range of $21-$22/hr with weekend shift differential. Includes possibility of staff housing in the first few months of employment.

Major Duties & Responsibilities May Include:
- Running regular practices for various ski groups, ranging from elementary school-aged Bill Koch League (BKL skiers) to highly competitive juniors to masters.
- Assisting with and/or leading learn-to-ride bike programs at local elementary schools
- Traveling to regional races to provide waxing and race support
- Helping develop practice plans for any given group
- Assisting in managing and maintaining equipment
- Coaching at and helping to organize day and overnight camps
- Assisting with weekly learn-to-ride bike groups on campus and at local schools
Qualifications:
- US Ski Snowboard L100 coach certification or willingness to obtain
- Experience cross country skiing at a collegiate or higher level
- Ability to work with varied ages and abilities
- Willingness to work atypical hours under demanding conditions
- Experience working with kids
- Mountain bike experience preferred
