Position Summary

The Instructor/Subject Matter Expert (SME) delivers professional Air Advisor academic instruction and serves as the focal point and SME in an assigned discipline. The Instructor/SME develops and maintains curriculum, prepares and delivers lessons, evaluates students, supports remedial instruction, and provides technical advice to improve instruction. When qualified and directed by the Site Manager, the Instructor/SME may also support other disciplines.

What You'll Do

•     Serve as the focal point and SME in your assigned discipline

•     Provide technical support, planning, consultation, analysis, and expert advice

•     Develop, update, revise, and deliver curriculum and courseware

•     Maintain current student education and training materials

•     Prepare classrooms and verify instructional equipment

•     Deliver lessons and conduct demonstrations and evaluations in accordance with syllabi and lesson plans

•     Support examinations and make-up/remedial instruction

•     Participate in professional development and relevant meetings and conferences

•     Teach other disciplines when qualified and directed to meet mission requirements

What You Bring

Specific qualifications vary by instructional discipline. Candidates will be considered for the specialty that best matches their education and experience.

Education

•     Master's degree from an accredited college or university

•     Region and Culture instructors: master's degree or higher in International Studies related to the applicable country or region

Experience

•     Military advisory experience relevant to the assigned discipline

•     Deployed as a Military Advisor, Political-Military Affairs Officer, Foreign Area Officer, or Provincial Reconstruction Team member, attache, or security assistance officer or in a position equivalent to one of the above positions.

Clearance

•     Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

Instructor Qualification Requirements

All contractor instructors must complete the USAF EOS instructional methods course, the Academic Instructors Course, or an approved substitute. New instructors complete approximately two weeks of institutional skills training followed by a one-year instructor upgrade certification period. Instructors must document 180 hours of instruction within one year of assignment and meet applicable CCAF accreditation, evaluation, and continuing-development requirements.

Additional Details

Work environment: Professional academic/office environment at JB MDL. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
