Position Summary

The Doctrine and Strategic Guidance Instructor/SME provides academic instruction, student evaluation, curriculum support, and subject-matter expertise for USAF Air Advisor education and training. Focus areas include doctrine, national security strategy and guidance, force development, DoD/service regulations, irregular warfare, building partnerships and partner capacity, security force assistance, foreign internal defense, stability operations, counterinsurgency, counterterrorism, and theater campaign planning.

What You'll Do

•     Provide instruction and evaluations on doctrine, strategic and regulatory guidance, and Air Advisor theory

•     Teach Strategic Guidance for Air Advisors, Aviation Enterprise Development, Theater Guidance, Irregular Warfare, Insurgency/Counterinsurgency, Foreign Internal Defense, Systems Thinking, and related subjects

•     Serve as the discipline SME, providing technical support, planning, consultation, analysis, and expert advice

•     Develop, update, revise, and deliver curriculum and courseware

•     Liaise with Air Force components, HAF, MAJCOMs, C-NAFs, other Services, and interagency, intergovernmental, and non-governmental organizations to keep curriculum current

•     Prepare classrooms and materials; conduct instruction, demonstrations, examinations, remedial instruction, and evaluations

•     Participate in professional development and teach other disciplines when qualified and directed

What You Bring

Education

•     Master's degree from an accredited college or university

Experience

•     Deployed military advisory experience as a Military Advisor, Political-Military Affairs Strategist, Regional Affairs Strategist, Foreign Area Officer, Provincial Reconstruction Team member, attaché, Security Cooperation Officer, or equivalent

•     Completion of Air Command and Staff College, Senior NCO Academy, or a sister-service equivalent

•     At least two (2) years serving on a DoD Major Command staff or higher

Clearance

•     Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

Instructor Qualification Requirements

All contractor instructors must complete the USAF EOS instructional methods course, the Academic Instructors Course, or an approved substitute. New instructors complete approximately two weeks of institutional skills training followed by a one-year instructor upgrade certification period. Instructors must document 180 hours of instruction within one year of assignment and meet applicable CCAF accreditation, evaluation, and continuing-development requirements.

Supervisory responsibility: None

Work environment: Professional academic/office environment at JB MDL. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
