Coughlin is hiring a skilled website designer to create attractive and functional websites for our clients. Sites are developed on both WordPress and Joomla! Content Management Systems (CMS). Website designers are responsible for both back-end and front-end configuration and design including the implementation of themes, components and plugins, page layout, design, and branding, as well as maintenance, security updates and troubleshooting.


Our team is looking for someone experienced with WordPress and/or Joomla!, a good eye for aesthetics, and strong project management skills. An excellent web designer can create attractive, user-friendly websites that meet or exceed the design and functionality expectations of the client.

 

Website designers must be able to work well with a team and meet deadlines.

 

Job Responsibilities


  • Meeting with clients to discuss website design and function
  • Designing and building the website front-end
  • Creating the website architecture
  • Designing and managing the website back-end including database and server integration
  • Conducting website performance tests
  • Troubleshooting content issues
  • Offering basic CMS training to clients
  • Monitoring the performance of live websites
  • Tuning sites for Accessibility
  • Working with clients for technical and on-page SEO
  • Working with clients for training on navigating, using, updating, and securing site
  • Creating training videos


Job Requirements


  • Associates degree in computer science, graphic design or a related field OR Comparable experience with WordPress CMS
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail


Additional Experience Desired


  • Experience working with debugging tools (dev consoles, command prompt, etc)
  • Understanding of current website technologies and design trends
  • Professional, demonstrable experience as a WordPress and/or Joomla! developer
  • Experience with web-related languages such as CSS, JavaScript, HTML, SQL, and PHP
  • Experience with of WCAG 2.1 Accessibility Guidelines
  • Experience managing SEO and related online marketing strategies
