Description

About the Engagement

Venture X College Park is seeking an experienced Community Coordinator operating as an independent contractor to help strengthen member engagement, communication, and connection within our coworking community.

This engagement is ideal for an independent professional with experience in community engagement, customer success, communications, marketing, membership organizations, coworking, hospitality, or a related field who knows how to build relationships and create meaningful connections.

The Community Coordinator will focus on member engagement and communications. The contractor will work independently to deliver agreed-upon community engagement outcomes while collaborating with Venture X leadership around priorities, brand standards, member needs, and business objectives.

Scope of Services

The Community Coordinator may provide services including:

  • Develop and implement member engagement initiatives designed to strengthen connection and participation within the Venture X community.
  • Develop member newsletters, announcements, and other community communications.
  • Communicate with members regarding community resources, opportunities, updates, and engagement initiatives.
  • Facilitate relevant introductions and connections among members when appropriate.
  • Develop and coordinate member engagement campaigns across approved communication channels.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with community organizations, ecosystem partners, and other potential collaborators.
  • Conduct outreach to members and community partners in support of agreed engagement objectives.
  • Collect and organize member feedback and identify opportunities to improve the member experience.
  • Maintain CRM records and other documentation directly related to the contractor's member engagement and outreach activities.
  • Monitor engagement activity and provide periodic reports, insights, and recommendations to Venture X leadership.
  • Recommend new approaches for strengthening community participation, retention, and connection.

What We're Looking For

The ideal contractor is a relationship-builder who combines strong communication skills with initiative, sound judgment, organization, and a genuine ability to create community.

You should be comfortable working independently, managing your own workflow, and being accountable for agreed deliverables and outcomes rather than working within a traditional employee structure.

Strong candidates will demonstrate:

  • Experience in community engagement, customer success, communications, marketing, membership engagement, coworking, hospitality, or a related professional service.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience creating member, customer, or community communications.
  • Ability to develop engagement strategies and translate them into actionable initiatives.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills.
  • Experience with CRM, email communication, Microsoft Office or comparable business platforms.
  • Ability to collect feedback, identify patterns, and recommend improvements.
  • Professional judgment when handling member information and confidential business information.
  • Ability to manage assignments and deadlines independently with limited direction.

Experience working with entrepreneurs, small businesses, professional communities, coworking organizations, business-development organizations, or membership-based organizations is preferred.

Independent Contractor Qualifications

Because this is an independent contractor engagement rather than an employment position, candidates should be independently engaged in providing community engagement, communications, marketing, consulting, customer experience, or substantially similar professional services.

The selected contractor must be able to:

  • Provide a completed Form W-9.
  • Independently determine the manner and means of performing the contracted services, subject to agreed deliverables, deadlines, confidentiality requirements, and Venture X brand standards.
