Description

About Coral Health Advisors

Coral Health Advisors is a health care consulting firm focused on helping leaders navigate complexity and turn policy and market change into confident action. We work at the

intersection of health policy, value-based care, and health care delivery, partnering with public and private sector clients to design strategies and support real world implementation.

We are a small, growing firm that values curiosity, clarity, collaboration, and impact. Our work spans Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial markets, with a particular focus on value-based payment models, population health, and rural health care transformation.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an early career Consultant to join our Government and Policy practice, supporting client work across health policy analysis, program implementation, and delivery system transformation. This role focuses on Medicaid, Medicare, and rural health policy and programs, helping clients translate federal and state policy into practical strategies and operational approaches. It is designed for someone who is eager to learn professional services consulting in a mission driven environment.

This is not a research-only role. Consultants at Coral learn how to support clients, manage workstreams, and deliver high-quality work products in a fast-moving consulting environment.

This Role May Be a Good Fit If

  • You are curious about how health policy translates into real world decisions and operations.
  • You enjoy learning by doing and are comfortable jumping into new topics with guidance and support.
  • You like turning complex information into clear, usable materials for decision makers.
  • You are interested in consulting as a profession and want to build skills in client service, project management, and collaborative problem solving.
  • You are early in your career and looking for a role where growth, feedback, and mentorship are part of the job.

What You Will Do

Consultants at Coral work closely with Directors and Partners to support client engagements.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting targeted research on federal and state health policy, program requirements, and payment approaches to inform client decisions and implementation.
  • Supporting program implementation, participation, monitoring, and evaluation through work plans, reporting tools, stakeholder materials, and analysis of program information.
  • Drafting and refining slides, memos, briefs, and other materials used with clients and external audiences.
  • Supporting project management activities such as work planning, meeting preparation, notes, and follow up.
  • Participating in client meetings and internal discussions to learn how consultants frame issues, test assumptions, and communicate recommendations.
  • Supporting business development efforts, including proposal drafting and background research.
  • Assisting with technical assistance, webinars, presentations, and stakeholder engagement activities involving government agencies, contractors, health plans, and care delivery organizations.
  • As an early career role, this position emphasizes learning, iteration, and skill development over independent ownership on day one.

Government and Policy Focus

Our Government and Policy practice helps clients understand, design, implement, and assess public health care programs and payment initiatives. We seek experience including:

  • Medicaid policy and programs: Medicaid managed care, state plan amendments, and Section 1115 demonstration waivers, including how policy requirements translate into program operations.
  • Medicare transformation and payment policy: Medicare payment approaches, value-based care, and delivery system initiatives, including their implications for providers and participating organizations.
  • Rural health payment and policy: Rural care delivery, provider sustainability, and transformation initiatives, including the Rural Health Transformation Program.
  • Program implementation and stakeholder collaboration: Working with federal and state government agencies, government contractors, health plans, providers, and other care delivery organizations to support implementation, program participation, monitoring, technical assistance, and evaluation.

Candidates should bring relevant exposure or foundational knowledge in one or more of these areas and an interest in developing expertise across the practice. Experience in every area is not expected. Relevant backgrounds may include government, consulting, health plans, care delivery organizations, research, or organizations supporting public programs.

What We Are Looking For

  • 2 to 4 years of professional experience, ideally in consulting, health care, policy, government, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in public policy, public health, health administration, or a related field is welcome but not required.
  • Strong writing and communication skills and a willingness to revise and improve work based on feedback.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and manage project planning using appropriate tools and frameworks (e.g., Smartsheet, RAID logs, RACI matrices, and work plans) to track deliverables, surface risks, and coordinate across teams.
  • Comfort managing multiple tasks and deadlines with support and guidance.
  • Demonstrated interest in Medicaid, Medicare, or rural health policy and an ability to connect policy research with practical questions about program implementation and care delivery.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially PowerPoint and Word.
