Job Summary:

Copper Roots is seeking a skilled and highly motivated Transmission Line Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in transmission line design and drafting with voltages ranging from 69kV to 345kV. The candidate should be proficient in AutoCAD, experienced in PLS-CADD, and have a strong understanding of transmission line engineering drafting procedures.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:

• Provide support in the design and analysis of overhead transmission lines from 69kV to 345kV using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• Develop transmission line drawings, including plan and profile, structure, and material assembly drawings for procurement and construction purposes using AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, including NESC, ASCE, RUS, IEEE, and ACI.
• Effectively communicate and coordinate with project team members on the status of the project.
• Prepare and issue material lists, reports, cost estimates, and project scopes.
• Provide technical support during bidding, procurement, and construction phases.
• Conduct site visits and work with field teams to ensure project success.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and best practices in transmission line design and drafting.
• Flexibility to engage in either design or drafting work as required on the project.
• Willingness to work with and mentor additional drafting and/or design staff.

Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree or certificate in computer-aided design (CAD) technology.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in transmission line drafting and design.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Experience with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• Proficiency with MS Office software.
• Familiarity with transmission line materials, structures, and foundations.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NESC, ASCE, IEEE, etc.).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
