Copper Roots is seeking a skilled and motivated Mid-Level Underground Transmission Line Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 5 years of experience in the design and analysis of underground transmission lines at voltages of 69 kV and above and will be based in Texas, Colorado, Idaho, or Wyoming. The candidate should be proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, CYMCAP, and Pull Planner and have a strong understanding of underground transmission line engineering fundamentals, industry standards, and construction practices. 


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the design and analysis of underground transmission lines at voltages of 69kV and above using AutoCAD Civil 3D, CYMCAP, and Pull Planner. 
  • Develop and review underground transmission line drawings, including plan and profile, duct bank and vault details, and sheath bonding schematics. 
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, including AEIC, ICEA, and IEEE. 
  • Effectively communicate, delegate, and lead team members to successfully execute projects. 
  • Coordinate with clients and other stakeholders regarding project status. 
  • Prepare and issue cost estimates, project scopes, engineering reports, and technical specifications. 
  • Provide technical support during bidding, procurement, and construction phases. 
  • Conduct site visits and work with field teams to ensure project success. 
  • Track and manage project metrics, including scope, schedule, and budget. 
  • Ensure the overall quality of design tasks and project deliverables through adherence to quality procedures. 
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and best practices in underground transmission engineering. 
  • Foster a positive work environment and contribute to the growth of both individual team members and the broader team. 
  • Maintain existing client relationships and support the development of new client relationships.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in underground transmission line design. 
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, CYMCAP, and Pull Planner. 
  • Understanding of underground line routing, cable system design, and structural design. 
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (AEIC, ICEA, IEEE, etc.). 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • EIT certification required; PE license (or ability to obtain) is a plus. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. 


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with cost estimating and scheduling. 
  • Experience with proposal development.  
  • Experience in leading a project team.
