About Connecticut Motor Cars & Coaches, LLC

We specialize in RV collision repair and service. Our shop is known for professionalism and a commitment to doing things right. If you're looking for steady, full-time work in a shop that values craftsmanship and accountability, we’d love to hear from you.

Description

Connecticut Motor Cars & Coaches is hiring a Mechanical Service Technician to join our growing service team in Plainville, Connecticut.

We're looking for someone with a strong mechanical background who enjoys hands-on work, troubleshooting problems, and working on a variety of vehicle systems.

This position focuses primarily on the mechanical side of motorhome service, including chassis components, steering, suspension, alignments, engine maintenance, and general mechanical repairs.

Previous RV experience is not required.

If you've worked in automotive repair, fleet maintenance, mechanical service, or another field involving vehicle maintenance and repair, your experience may translate well here.

We can teach you the RV-specific systems. What we're looking for is someone who already understands mechanical work, knows their way around tools, and has the ability to diagnose problems and figure things out.

What You'll Be Doing

Unlike a traditional repair shop where you may perform the same services repeatedly, our technicians work on a wide variety of motorhomes and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Diagnosing and repairing suspension components, including shocks, air suspension, bushings, and related systems
  • Inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing steering components
  • Performing wheel alignments and correcting handling, vibration, and ride-quality concerns
  • Inspecting and servicing braking systems
  • Performing engine maintenance, including oil changes, filters, belts, fluids, and preventative maintenance
  • Troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Performing chassis inspections, maintenance, and repairs
  • Installing suspension upgrades, steering enhancements, and aftermarket components
  • Using tools, diagnostic equipment, service manuals, and technical information to identify and resolve issues
  • Completing repairs accurately, efficiently, and safely
  • Assisting with other mechanical service work as needed

You won't necessarily be doing every one of these tasks on day one. We're looking for someone with a strong foundation who can continue building their skills.

Experience That Translates Well

We're interested in candidates with experience in:

  • Automotive mechanical repair
  • Suspension and steering work
  • Brake service and repair
  • Vehicle maintenance and diagnostics
  • Fleet or commercial vehicle service
  • General mechanical repair
  • Engine maintenance and preventative service

Experience working on motorhomes, RVs, buses, trucks, or other larger vehicles is a plus, but not required.

What We're Looking For

The right person for this position is someone who:

  • Has professional hands-on mechanical experience
  • Understands how mechanical systems work
  • Can troubleshoot problems rather than simply replace parts
  • Is comfortable using tools, equipment, and technical information
  • Works independently while knowing when to ask questions
  • Takes ownership of their work from start to finish
  • Pays attention to detail and cares about quality
  • Is dependable, accountable, and works well with others
  • Can maintain a productive pace without sacrificing workmanship
  • Is willing to learn unfamiliar systems and develop new skills

We're not expecting you to know everything about RVs. We are expecting you to bring solid mechanical ability, a willingness to learn, and pride in your work.

Why Work at Connecticut Motor Cars & Coaches?

We're a family-owned, growing service and collision repair facility specializing in motorhomes and RVs.

We're not a corporate dealership or a production-line repair operation. Our work is varied, our equipment is specialized, and our technicians have opportunities to develop skills that aren't typically used in a traditional automotive shop.

Our approximately 25,000-square-foot facility includes 20 service bays and equipment capable of handling large motorhomes, including heavy-duty chassis alignments.

We offer:

  • Competitive compensation based on experience and skill
  • Full-time, year-round employment
  • Monday–Friday work schedule
  • Monthly Performance Bonus
  • Paid time off
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement plan with company matching
  • Hands-on training and opportunities for professional development
  • Exposure to specialized motorhome systems and equipment
  • A growing company where good work and initiative are recognized

We're building a team of people who take their work seriously, support one another, and want to be part of a company that's continuing to grow.
