Purpose of Role

This role focuses on assisting with outreach, education, and enrollment efforts to ensure individuals and families are informed about and can access available health resources, insurance options, and culturally appropriate care.

The Health Integration Intern is responsible for conducting a comprehensive health assessment survey to evaluate the health status of the community and presenting a report outlining the survey results and the impact of their work.

Key Responsibilities

Collaboration: Collaborate with the Health Board team to plan and implement health initiatives.

Survey and Data Management: Conduct a health assessment survey and compile results to identify community needs. Enter data accurately into organizational databases for tracking and reporting purposes.

Resource Development: Develop tools and resources (e.g., flyers, guides) to assist with health education and outreach.

Community Engagement: Organize and host information sessions to raise awareness about health resources and services if needed. Provide creative solutions to support community health, such as arranging transportation for appointments and visiting clients at home.

Partnerships: Partner with local healthcare providers to expand community access to health services.

Progress Tracking: Track and report progress on health initiatives to the Senior Program Director.

Confidentiality and Sensitivity: Maintain confidentiality and cultural sensitivity when working with diverse populations.

Performance Expectations

Survey Completion: Successfully conduct and report on the health assessment survey.

Community Impact: Demonstrate how efforts contributed to improving the community's overall health.

Collaboration and Communication: Effectively collaborate with team members and communicate progress to the Senior Program Director.

Required Skills and Competencies

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Bilingual strongly preferred – fluent English, French, Lingala, Swahili, and/or Portuguese (not required).
  • Valid Washington driver’s license, current
  • automobile insurance, ability to use personal vehicle for home visits and other outside meetings

Qualifications

Education: Pursuing or completing a degree in Public Health, Social Work, Community Health, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience: Previous experience in community outreach, public health programs, or social services is preferred. Experience working with diverse populations, including refugees, immigrants, or undeserved communities.

Certifications: Additional certifications in

health-related areas (e.g., health education, community outreach) are a plus.

Working Conditions

Office environment: Sitting at a desk with frequent computer and telephone use. Travel: Includes client home visits and meetings with healthcare providers in King County and Pierce County. Use of a personal vehicle might be needed; gas reimbursement is available.
