COMPETE is seeking a seasoned D.C. Based Business Development Executive with a strong background in Democratic political campaigns, Democratic committee work, institutional Independent Expenditures, and/or aligned interest groups and causes.
COMPETE is a full service Digital firm that specializes in transparent and effective Digital buying, with a top notch in-house creative team. We’ve worked on 800 campaigns across 40 different states since we launched in 2019, thanks in large part to the wide network of partners we’ve developed throughout the country, as well as our suite of cutting edge products that help Democratic campaigns, causes, and consultants better harness the evolving and fracturing Digital and Connected TV landscape to achieve their goals and win.
Currently, we have a small D.C. operation that we are looking to grow by hiring a leader and providing them with the resources they’ll need to expand our footprint into the heart of the Democratic ecosystem.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 4 cycles of political campaign experience, specifically significant work with Democratic committees, IEs, legislative caucuses, and/or highly competitive federal or statewide races across the country, as well as deep political networks. Strong relationships with media consultants is a definite plus. This role will drive growth through business development and service expansion, leveraging your expertise to open doors, close deals, and shape our offerings. We envision a successful candidate likely becoming the leader of our firm’s D.C. presence.
Experience: Minimum of 4 cycles working for political campaigns or campaign/cause focused consultancies, ideally with at least 3 cycles specifically in the political arena working with Democratic campaign/initiatives at the state and federal level. Candidates will have well-established connections with larger progressive and Democratic political organizations, including entities like the DCCC, DLCC, DSCC, DGA, trade associations, caucuses, state parties, and unions, and—equally as important—other key consultants in the D.C. Democratic ecosystem.
Skills:
Network: Extensive network of contacts within the Democratic Party and related political groups. Specifically, we are interested in applicants with connections to (preferred but not required):
Location: In or immediately around Washington D.C. or willing to relocate to D.C.
We see Strategy, Tactical Execution, and Creative Development for New Media advertising - Digital and Connected TV - as our main service line. We also offer many other services that help us open relationships and “land and expand” into larger engagements, including Social Media Management, Website Design and Development, and Digital Fundraising.
We are particularly interested in bringing our New Media Strategy, Tactical Ad Buying, and strong Technology to market through other consultants, such as media consultants and general consultants.
Generally, we are open to aligning our expansion with your strengths—whether that be with Campaigns, Causes, Committees, Consultants, or something else a qualified applicant feels would lead to success. We are very flexible in our offerings, and understand that different clients and partners have different kinds of needs that our firm can help fill. We look forward to having open conversations with qualified applicants about how to best leverage their skills and experience to successfully grow our footprint.
