COMPETE Digital LLC D.C. Based Business Development Executive Remote · Full time

COMPETE is seeking a seasoned D.C. Based Business Development Executive with a strong background in Democratic political campaigns, Democratic committee work, institutional Independent Expenditures, and/or aligned interest groups and causes.

Description

COMPETE is a full service Digital firm that specializes in transparent and effective Digital buying, with a top notch in-house creative team. We’ve worked on 800 campaigns across 40 different states since we launched in 2019, thanks in large part to the wide network of partners we’ve developed throughout the country, as well as our suite of cutting edge products that help Democratic campaigns, causes, and consultants better harness the evolving and fracturing Digital and Connected TV landscape to achieve their goals and win.

Currently, we have a small D.C. operation that we are looking to grow by hiring a leader and providing them with the resources they’ll need to expand our footprint into the heart of the Democratic ecosystem.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 4 cycles of political campaign experience, specifically significant work with Democratic committees, IEs,  legislative caucuses, and/or highly competitive federal or statewide races across the country, as well as deep political networks. Strong relationships with media consultants is a definite plus. This role will drive growth through business development and service expansion, leveraging your expertise to open doors, close deals, and shape our offerings. We envision a successful candidate likely becoming the leader of our firm’s D.C. presence.

Compensation:

  • $125,000 - $200,000 base salary, commensurate with experience level and ability to help us grow.
  • In addition to the base salary, performance-based bonuses, including uncapped commissions paid on a quarterly basis, aligned to electoral seasons. The right candidate could earn hundreds of thousands in bonuses per cycle, with the high end limited only by the revenue generated.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, and 401(k) match.
  • Unlimited PTO.
  • Remote work support: Flexible working hours that fit your lifestyle and a strong remote workstation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Sales Development: Focus on expanding our footprint in the Democratic Political space. Candidates must have long-standing relationships with key Consultants, politicians, PACs, NGOs, and other relevant organizations within the Democratic ecosystem.
  • Relationship Management: Candidates will often lead the relationships they open, and will have a full support team for securing and executing engagements from our business development team, our account management team, our in-house creative team, and our in-house Digital and CTV buying team.
  • Travel: Excited to travel for business development.

Requirements:

Experience: Minimum of 4 cycles working for political campaigns or campaign/cause focused consultancies, ideally with at least 3 cycles specifically in the political arena working with Democratic campaign/initiatives at the state and federal level. Candidates will have well-established connections with larger progressive and Democratic political organizations, including entities like the DCCC, DLCC, DSCC, DGA, trade associations, caucuses, state parties, and unions, and—equally as important—other key consultants in the D.C. Democratic ecosystem.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of the political campaign process and the specific needs of Democratic campaigns and aligned entities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Enjoys networking, opening relationships, and nurturing relationships.
  • Strategic command of political campaigns and causes that can be leveraged to help fulfil work/guide relationships that are opened.
  • Able to work remotely—we communicate via Gmail, Asana, Slack, Harvest, and Zoom.
  • Self-motivated—we envision this team member having a lot of freedom to decide how best to use their time, as well as being able to benefit from commission upside they will receive for successfully furthering COMPETE’s footprint in the D.C. ecosystem.

Network: Extensive network of contacts within the Democratic Party and related political groups. Specifically, we are interested in applicants with connections to (preferred but not required):

  • Media consultants and general consultants
  • Campaign committees, PACs, and associated IEs
  • The Great Lake / Midwest states

Location: In or immediately around Washington D.C. or willing to relocate to D.C.
