The Lead Teacher will work closely with the Camp Director, teachers, and age group counselors to provide leadership, program development and execution for a specified age group of campers. They will be responsible for the planning and implementation of both indoor and outdoor activities that foster the physical, social, and emotional growth of the campers for which they are responsible.

Position: Lead Teacher, Camp Piney Branch (Summer 2026)

Location: Clifton Park Baptist Church, Long Branch – Silver Spring, MD

Schedule: July 27–August 14, 2026 | 9:00am–2:00pm (Staff: 8:30am–2:30pm)

Compensation: $3,000 stipend for the 3‑week program

Program Overview

Camp Piney Branch is a community-based summer enrichment program serving rising 1st–6th graders in the Long Branch community. The camp provides hands‑on learning, outdoor exploration, recreation, and daily breakfast and lunch in a safe, nurturing environment.

Position Summary

The Lead Teacher provides instructional leadership for an assigned age group, ensuring high‑quality programming, safety, and positive youth development. This role collaborates closely with the Camp Director, teachers, and counselors to deliver engaging indoor and outdoor activities that support campers’ physical, social, and emotional growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver daily lessons, activities, and enrichment experiences.
  • Lead organized indoor/outdoor games, arts and crafts, and social‑emotional learning activities.
  • Supervise campers to ensure safety, engagement, and positive behavior.
  • Mentor and support the assigned Camp Counselor.
  • Lead and supervise campers during weekly field trips and special events.
  • Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and structured environment for all youth.
  • Prepare weekly lesson/activity plans in advance.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
