The Ketamine Infusion Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care by administering intravenous Ketamine treatments in accordance with physician protocols. Job Summary: 


The Ketamine Infusion Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care by administering intravenous Ketamine treatments in accordance with physician protocols. This role involves performing comprehensive patient assessments, accurately calculating and administering Ketamine dosages, and closely monitoring patients throughout the infusion process to ensure their safety and comfort. The nurse will also manage the treatment environment, troubleshoot any issues that arise, and provide compassionate support to patients dealing with conditions such as major depressive disorder, PTSD, OCD, and chronic pain.




Scope of Duties:

Essential Functions

Patient Care


  • Take vital signs and perform primary and focused assessments according to physician protocols and patient presentation.
  • Administer intravenous Ketamine treatments, ensuring accurate dosing and patient comfort.
  • Administer psychiatric rating scales and conduct assessments before treatment.
  • Safely administer medication-assisted therapy injections via the prescribed route.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to patient comfort, IV accessibility, IV pumps, and treatment environment.


Compliance


  • Precisely calculate dosing based on milligram to kilogram.
  • Perform accurate mathematical conversions into milliliters for infusion therapy.
  • Handle and log controlled substances per state and federal regulations.
  • Discard biohazard and sharps waste according to state regulations.


Collaboration & Communication


  • Record session notes in EHR, collaborate with physicians, and schedule patient visits.
  • Communicate with a team of psychiatrists, other providers, and clinicians who oversee patient treatment at multiple office locations.
  • Conduct initial and discharge consultations with patients.


Professional Development


  • Attend required continuing education for the FDA-mandated Spravato REMS program and Ketamine infusion CME as deemed necessary by the CMO.

  • Provide compassionate patient care, building trust and rapport with those struggling with conditions like major depressive disorder, PTSD, OCD, chronic pain and substance use disorders.
  • Maintain professionalism by avoiding self-disclosure with patients and, unless appropriate, with staff.
  • Collaborates with all mental health and medical disciplines to provide safe, high quality  patient care

Qualifications :

Required

  • Diploma in Practical Nursing or Associates Degree in Registered Nursing required. Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred.
  • Active CO or Compact registered nurse (RN) license
  • Current CPR Certification 


Preferred

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in nursing 
  • Experience with Google Workspace
  • At least one year of experience working in behavioral health, working with patients who are suffering from common mental health disorders.
  • Experience with Google Workspace


Physical Requirements:

  • Full range of body motions, including manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Some sitting, bending, stooping, and stretching 
  • Standing and walking
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
  • Must have adequate hearing and speaking ability to communicate with co-workers and others in person, by phone, and via online correspondence.

$38 - $42 per hour
