Role Overview
We are seeking a senior, highly analytical leader to own the financial, operational, and growth performance of our infusion center. This role is responsible for optimizing drug acquisition costs, maximizing payer reimbursement, ensuring billing accuracy, and driving profitable growth of infusion services.
This is a hands-on, numbers-driven role for someone who understands infusion center economics at a granular level and is comfortable negotiating with pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors, and payers. The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of finance, revenue cycle, and healthcare operations.
This role reports directly to the Practice Owner and has significant autonomy and strategic influence.
Core Responsibilities
Infusion Drug Contracting & Purchasing
- Negotiate pricing, rebates, admin fees, and contract terms with pharmaceutical manufacturers and drug distributors
- Maintain strong working relationships with pharma and distribution partners
- Optimize quarterly drug purchasing decisions based on pricing tiers, rebates, utilization trends, and payer mix
- Evaluate new infusion drugs for financial viability prior to adoption
- Monitor ASP, WAC, and acquisition cost trends to protect margins
Reimbursement & Revenue Cycle Oversight
- Analyze payer contracts to ensure reimbursement aligns with negotiated rates
- Identify underpayments and drive resolution with payers and the billing company
- Audit billing performance, coding accuracy, claim submission, and denial management
- Actively track and pursue unpaid or delayed claims
- Serve as the internal authority on infusion reimbursement strategy
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Build and maintain detailed financial models and spreadsheets including:
- Profit & loss by drug
- Payer profitability analysis
- Referral source performance
- Cost vs reimbursement analysis
- Forecast infusion volume and drug purchasing needs
- Reconcile rebates and pricing adjustments on a quarterly basis
- Provide clear, actionable financial reporting to ownership
Business Growth & Strategy
- Identify opportunities to grow infusion volume through outside referrals
- Develop relationships with referring providers and specialty practices
- Analyze payer mix and referral patterns to guide strategic growth decisions
- Partner with clinical leadership to ensure operational expansion is financially sound
- Evaluate opportunities for new infusion programs and services
Operational Leadership
- Ensure infusion operations are financially efficient and scalable
- Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and billing teams
- Develop internal processes and systems to improve accuracy, transparency, and accountability
- Act as a trusted advisor to ownership on infusion center strategy
Required Background & Experience
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in infusion center operations, specialty pharmacy, oncology, neurology infusion, or hospital outpatient infusion
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Buy-and-bill drug economics
- Rebate and pricing structures
- Payer reimbursement analysis
- Distributor and manufacturer contracting
- Advanced proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets (financial modeling, pivot tables, reconciliation)
Highly Preferred:
- Experience negotiating directly with pharmaceutical companies and distributors
- Background in healthcare finance, revenue cycle management, or managed care contracting
- Prior responsibility for infusion P&L or service line profitability
- CPA, MBA, or healthcare finance training (preferred, not required)
