Job Description
Cogwheel Analytics builds a digital marketing analytics and reporting platform for the hospitality industry. We aggregate data from Google Ads, GA4, Meta, OTA platforms, and other channels into clear, actionable dashboards that help hotels understand and grow their digital performance.
We are looking for a Software Engineer with strong Python skills to join our development team. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience building RESTful APIs, a solid foundation in problem solving, and an understanding of clean coding practices and software architecture. You will work closely with senior engineers to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems, and you will have real ownership of the features you ship.
Key Responsibilities
API & Backend Development
- Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using Python and FastAPI.
- Implement database models and queries using SQLAlchemy and PostgreSQL.
- Build and maintain async and scheduled jobs using Celery.
Code Quality & Delivery
- Write clean, readable, well-structured, and maintainable code.
- Debug, test, and optimize application performance.
- Participate in code reviews and follow team coding standards.
Collaboration
- Work with team members to analyze requirements and deliver solutions in biweekly sprints.
- Support frontend engineers by exposing well-designed, documented APIs.
- Help troubleshoot and resolve client-reported platform issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2 to 4 years of professional experience as a software developer.
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Experience building RESTful APIs using FastAPI or a similar framework.
- Hands-on experience with SQLAlchemy and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- Understanding of clean code principles and basic software architecture.
- Familiarity with Git and standard version control workflows.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, focused team.
Nice to Have
- Experience with async programming in Python.
- Experience with Celery or similar distributed task systems.
- Knowledge of API authentication (JWT, OAuth, etc.).
- Basic understanding of Docker, CI/CD, or AWS.
- Experience writing unit or integration tests.
- Familiarity with React or willingness to occasionally work across the stack.
- Exposure to marketing or analytics data (Google Ads, GA4, Meta, OTA platforms).
