Job Description
Cogwheel Analytics builds a digital marketing analytics and reporting platform for the hospitality industry. We aggregate data from Google Ads, GA4, Meta, OTA platforms, and other channels into clear, actionable dashboards that help hotels understand and grow their digital performance.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to lead our frontend. You will own the architecture and standards of our Angular application, review and mentor other frontend engineers, and deliver the complex, data-heavy screens our clients rely on every day. You are comfortable working across the API boundary: you co-own API contracts with backend engineers and can build a simple endpoint yourself rather than wait. This role is for someone who sets a clear bar, raises risk early, and leaves the codebase better documented than they found it.
Key Responsibilities
Frontend Technical Leadership
- Own frontend architecture: module structure, component patterns, state management, and shared UI conventions.
- Set and enforce frontend standards through code review, documentation, and example code.
- Mentor frontend engineers through review and pairing, and help onboard new hires.
- Record frontend decisions and tradeoffs so the team does not re-litigate solved problems.
- Contribute to sprint planning with realistic estimates and early risk flags.
Angular Delivery
- Design and deliver major features and modules in Angular and TypeScript, with reactive data flows built on RxJS.
- Refactor legacy screens toward current patterns without disrupting clients.
- Make sure every release is production ready: tested, reviewed against design and accessibility expectations, and monitored.
API Contracts and Cross-Stack Work
- Define API contracts with backend engineers before implementation starts.
- Build or extend simple FastAPI endpoints when that unblocks frontend work, following backend review standards.
- Trace client-reported issues across the frontend and API boundary to root cause.
Data Visualization and Performance
- Build dashboards and charts that present large, multi-source datasets clearly and accurately.
- Profile and optimize rendering and data handling on heavy dashboard screens.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional frontend engineering experience, including ownership of a large, production web application.
- Experience leading frontend work: setting standards, reviewing code, and mentoring engineers.
- Deep Angular and TypeScript expertise, including strong RxJS and modern Angular architecture.
- Solid experience integrating REST APIs, including JWT-based authentication and secure frontend practices.
- Working ability in a backend language, enough to read API code and make small, reviewed changes. Python is preferred.
- Experience building data-heavy interfaces with charting or visualization libraries.
- Strong automated testing habits for frontend code.
- Clear written communication in English.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to Have
- Python and FastAPI experience.
- PrimeNG and ApexCharts experience.
- Experience building analytics or B2B dashboard products, especially in hospitality or digital marketing.
- Accessibility (WCAG) and responsive design experience.
- CI/CD with GitHub Actions; Docker and AWS familiarity.
- Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code in a professional workflow.
- Experience with DORA metrics, release gates, or similar delivery discipline.
