Cogniac Corporation Vision Systems Engineer Remote · Full time

The Cogniac Vision Systems Engineer has a proven record of accomplishment in developing machine vision and image processing hardware and software systems for customers. Serves as the Cogniac expert in machine-vision imaging techniques including all aspects of sensors, lenses, lighting, and synchronization.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with customers to design and implement customized imaging solutions to enable expanded adoption of the Cogniac system
  • Establish Cogniac Vision Services as a trusted consultant to factory or industrial stakeholders
  • Work closely with Sales, Project/Systems Engineering, and Operations to specify imaging and related hardware required to execute on project designs and optimize performance
  • Define and build standardized imaging solutions that address recurring inspection scenarios in a repeatable fashion
  • Program PLCs, automated inspection cameras, vision sensors, lighting, motion control, and related components
  • Create CAD drawings of proposed vision systems for customer distribution


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with vision systems, factory automation, instrumentation, and data acquisition-analysis in a high-volume operation
  • Strong hands-on experience in machine vision technology (hardware and software), lighting, and vision image processing
  • Knowledge of PLC programming from a range of PLC vendors (e.g., Rockwell Automation (Allen Bradley), Siemens, ABB, etc.), desired
  • Experience with integrating visions systems with robots, cobots, desired

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of industry experience in vision systems engineering
