Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and develop secure network architectures for shipboard and shore-based C4I systems
- Support integration of communication systems, data networks, and sensor systems
- Integrate network components into existing and new C4I environments
- Diagnose and resolve complex network issues by systematically analyzing traffic and behavior across all layers of the OSI model
- Troubleshoot connectivity, performance, and latency problems using a deep understanding of protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, SRTP, and routing protocols
- Perform packet-level analysis with tools like Wireshark to identify protocol anomalies and root causes of network failures
- Develop interface control documentation, network diagrams, and integration plans
- Evaluates performance metrics for each system/component in accordance with defined requirements.
- Document discrepancies and implement corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity and information assurance standards
- Support secure data handling up to Secret classification levels
- Applies state-of-the-art techniques and industry best practices for designing, developing, modifying, and troubleshooting technical solutions
- Performs related work as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.

Education, Competency and Other Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in network engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, IT, or related field.
- Journeyman Level:
- 3+ years of experience in network engineering
- Experience with DoD or military C4I systems strongly preferred
- Senior Level:
- 10+ years of experience
- Experience leading network design/integration efforts for complex systems
- Network design (LAN/WAN, tactical networks, SATCOM, RF systems)
- Cisco/Juniper or similar enterprise networking technologies
- Network security (firewalls, encryption, IA controls)
- Systems integration in DoD environments
- Familiarity with:
- Microsoft Operating Systems, Linux Operating Systems, Network Troubleshooting and Analysis tools
- Experience integrating shipboard communications systems supporting voice, video, and data applications
- Demonstrated knowledge of proper handling and utilization of Government Furnished Information (GFI), including but not limited to Cable Block Diagrams, Cable Running Sheets, Cable Installation/Interconnection Drawings, and Installation Requirements Drawings
- Demonstrated knowledge of military and commercial communications protocols
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
