About Us

Climate Democracy Initiative (CDI) leads initiatives at the intersection of democracy and climate change, supporting communities to take a participatory governance approach to climate solutions. CDI's Empowering Civic Leadership to Inspire Progress through Student Engagement (ECLIPSE) program enhances K-12 education in Colorado by integrating teacher professional development, in-classroom learning, and hands-on student experiences with community partners. Alongside ECLIPSE, CDI develops complementary offerings, including the Think Like a Genius® program and the InnerView certification system, that build youth leadership skills and strengthen educator-youth partnerships. Together, these programs foster an informed and active citizenry from a young age, making environmental stewardship and civic leadership accessible and relevant to every community.

About the Role

The Curriculum Developer will design, organize, format, and develop the curriculum, workshop materials, and learning resources that support CDI's education programs. Working closely with the ECLIPSE Program Manager, this role will help build out facilitator guides, participant materials, and activity resources for at least two new workshop offerings, while also contributing to early-stage curriculum mapping and content prototyping for the Think Like a Genius® program and InnerView certification system. This is a short-term, part-time engagement well suited to a candidate who enjoys hands-on instructional design work and can move quickly from concept to polished, facilitator-ready materials.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Design, Development & Organization

  • Work with the ECLIPSE Program Manager to develop facilitator guides, participant materials, slide decks, and youth leadership skill-building and educator-youth partnership activity resources for consistency across all CDI offerings.
  • Develop curriculum and materials for at least two new CDI workshop offerings.
  •  Contribute to brainstorming, curriculum mapping, activity development, and content prototyping for future iterations of the Think Like a Genius® program and InnerView certification system.
  • Maintain curriculum files, version control, and resource organization.

Facilitation & Program Support

  • Facilitate workshops, trainings, and professional learning opportunities virtually.
  • Build out additional lesson plans, activities, reflection prompts, and facilitator resources.

Required Qualifications:

  •  Experience developing curriculum, workshop materials, or educational resources, ideally for K-12 or youth-serving audiences.
  •  Strong instructional design skills, including the ability to translate learning goals into clear, engaging facilitator and participant materials.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and formatting skills, with close attention to detail and consistency.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines within a short-term engagement.
  • Comfort with digital tools for content creation and file organization (e.g., Google Workspace, Canva, shared drives).
  •  Experience facilitating virtual workshops or trainings is a plus.
  • Interest in environmental stewardship, civics education, or youth leadership development is a plus.
