Description

Senior Accountant

Job Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Louisville, CO | In-Office

Job Type: Full-time

Clear Comfort Water is seeking a hands-on and dependable Senior Accountant to own the day-to-day accounting processes that keep our business running. This role will have primary responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, customer and administrative vendor communications, daily accounting activity, sales tax filings, payroll administration, and other recurring accounting and HR administrative processes.

This is a self-starter role in a growing small business. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their responsibilities, stays ahead of deadlines, follows issues through to resolution, and is comfortable moving between detailed transactional work and broader accounting projects.

The position also offers a clear opportunity for growth. Working closely with the CFO, the Senior Accountant will progressively take on more complex balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close responsibilities, and financial reporting. For the right person, the role can develop into ownership of significant portions of the full-cycle corporate close as Accounting Manager or Controller.

We are not afraid to get our hands dirty or think big. We’re looking for someone who is excited to grow with the company, comfortable rolling up their sleeves, and curious to understand how all parts of the accounting cycle connect in a dynamic small-business environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable & Vendor Management

  • Own the accounts payable process, including invoice entry, coding, approvals, payment preparation, and vendor communications
  • Maintain accurate administrative vendor records and supporting documentation
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies, duplicate charges, credits, and other vendor issues for administrative vendors
  • Monitor upcoming obligations and ensure payments are processed accurately and on time
  • Reconcile vendor statements and follow outstanding items through resolution
  • Support employee expense reporting and reimbursement processes

Accounts Receivable & Customer Accounting

  • Own accounts receivable administration, including customer invoicing, payment application, and account maintenance
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and proactively follow up on past-due balances
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding invoices, payments, credits, and account questions
  • Research and resolve payment discrepancies and unapplied cash
  • Coordinate with Sales and Operations to ensure invoicing is complete, accurate, and timely
  • Maintain appropriate customer documentation

Daily Accounting & Cash Activity

  • Record and review daily banking and accounting activity
  • Maintain accurate cash application and transaction records
  • Monitor bank activity and identify unusual, missing, or incorrectly recorded transactions
  • Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Ensure transactions are recorded in the appropriate period and supported by adequate documentation
  • Maintain clean and organized accounting records in QuickBooks Online

Payroll, Tax & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Administer recurring payroll processes and coordinate payroll changes through Gusto
  • Maintain accurate payroll-related records and supporting documentation
  • Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding from an accounting and payroll administration perspective
  • Prepare and file recurring sales tax returns and maintain supporting records
  • Assist with other recurring state and local tax or compliance filings
  • Support benefits, retirement plan, and other HR administrative processes as assigned
  • Coordinate with outside providers when payroll, tax, benefits, or compliance issues require resolution

Month-End Close & Accounting Support

  • Complete assigned month-end close responsibilities accurately and within established deadlines
  • Prepare recurring account reconciliations and supporting schedules
  • Research discrepancies and independently drive open accounting items to resolution
  • Support accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, inventory, and other month-end accounting processes
  • Ensure accounting records are complete and appropriately supported prior to close
  • Assist the CFO with financial reporting, audit, tax, and year-end requests

Growth Into Full-Cycle Accounting

As experience and technical proficiency develop, this role will have the opportunity to expand into:

  • Preparing and posting increasingly complex journal entries
  • Owning additional balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparing accruals, deferrals, prepaid and fixed asset entries
  • Supporting inventory and cost accounting reconciliations
  • Performing account analysis and identifying unusual trends or variances
  • Taking ownership of larger portions of the monthly and year-end close
  • Supporting consolidated financial reporting and management reporting
  • Developing toward broader accounting management and controllership responsibilities

Process Ownership & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Maintain clear and current documentation for recurring accounting processes
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls
  • Take ownership of assigned processes from beginning to end rather than waiting for issues to be escalated
  • Manage recurring deadlines and communicate proactively when an issue may affect timing or accuracy
  • Partner effectively with Accounting, Sales, Operations, and the C-Suite
  • Learn internal systems and understand how information flows between operational and financial systems
  • Provide backup coverage across accounting functions as needed

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience
  • QuickBooks Online experience strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of accrual accounting and GAAP
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close
  • Strong Google Sheets skills, including XLOOKUP, pivot tables, and working with larger data sets.
  • Experience with manufacturing, inventory, or cost accounting is a plus
  • Comfortable learning and using systems such as Salesforce, SOS Inventory, Gusto, Expensify, Google Sheets, and Slack
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple recurring deadlines without extensive oversight
  • Strong attention to detail while understanding the broader purpose behind the work
  • Comfortable researching discrepancies and following problems through to resolution
  • Proactive communicator who raises issues early and clearly
  • Curious and eager to develop stronger technical accounting skills
  • Comfortable working in a growing company where responsibilities may evolve as the business scales

What You’ll Get

  • Competitive salary: $60,000–$80,000, based on experience
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • IRA match contributions
  • Stock incentives
  • Hands-on exposure to the full accounting cycle
  • Direct mentorship and development opportunities with the CFO
  • Opportunity to expand from operational accounting ownership into more complex close, reporting, and controllership responsibilities
  • A chance to build your accounting career in a purpose-driven, growth-oriented company
