1. Job Summary

The Business Systems Lead is the day-to-day owner of the platforms that run our company and the primary technical lead in evaluating, selecting, and implementing technology solutions. They report to the Director of Operations and work closely with the Director to align our technology implementations with operational strategy. They are responsible for both the tactical administration, integration, and optimization of our core systems and for the development of our business systems roadmap. The role serves central operations as well as our three distinct business units: a curriculum publisher, an online K-12 school, and an asynchronous teacher training platform. Each business unit has a predictable annual cycle of systems needs and opportunities so this role will rotate its focus throughout the year. This is a great position for a technically savvy operational generalist who enjoys variety, hands-on technical challenges, and working collaboratively across teams.

2. Essential Responsibilities

  • Core Platforms Administration: Own the administration, configuration, and upkeep of our core platforms (Google Workspace, ClickUp, HubSpot, Canvas LMS, Airtable, and others). Manage user accounts, access, and systems onboarding/offboarding across the organization.

  • School Platform Administration and Tech Support: Support the specialized platform needs of our online K-12 school, specifically Canvas LMS, Zoom, and Airtable. Provide tech support to families and instructors.
  • Integration and Automation: Build and maintain integrations that move data cleanly between platforms and reduce manual work. Build and implement workflows, automations, and visualizations to support and improve business processes.
  • Technical Strategy: Serve as the primary technical advisor to the Director of Operations and business unit leaders on platform selection, systems architecture, and technology roadmap. Lead evaluation of new tools and vendors, set standards and best practices for platform use across the organization, and guide teams through technology changes and adoption.
  • Documentation and Training: Document processes and systems architecture and train users to drive organizational transformation and platform adoption.
  • Hardware Administration: Provide basic hardware administration and device management for the organization.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: This role does not currently have direct reports. It manages vendor relationships (e.g., the RevOps agency) and provides technical direction collaboratively across business units.

3. Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: 2-4 years of experience in a business systems, IT, or operations role with broad experience managing business software; hands-on experience configuring and maintaining platforms such as CRMs, work management tools, LMS platforms, or Airtable (experience with HubSpot, ClickUp, Canvas, or Airtable is a plus; the ability to learn new platforms quickly matters more).
  • Technical Leadership: Demonstrated experience identifying opportunities for systems improvement and leading technical decision-making and roadmapping, from evaluation through implementation.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong technical aptitude with a drive for process improvement. Working knowledge of scripting languages and APIs. Ability to architect platforms for technical governance: system structure and data model, naming conventions, integration architecture, access and permissions.
  • Mission Alignment: Comfort working within a mission-driven, classical education organization, with a collaborative, cross-functional mindset.
  • Soft Skills: Ownership mindset, self-direction, and desire for continuous learning; strong organizational and project coordination skills; ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues.

4. Physical Demands & Travel

  • Travel: Occasional travel to the Camp Hill, PA office may be required to support hardware administration and device management tasks that cannot be handled remotely; specific frequency to be confirmed with the hiring manager. Attend CAP all-company gatherings annually in person.
  • Office Presence: Remote position; occasional on-site presence at the Camp Hill, PA office may be needed as outlined above.
  • Physical: Ability to set up, troubleshoot, and manage physical hardware and devices (e.g., laptops, peripherals) as needed; prolonged periods of computer-based work.
