KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead large, complex lighting and electrical engineering projects from concept through construction, ensuring successful delivery of scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, building long-term relationships, understanding organizational goals, and providing strategic guidance throughout project delivery.
- Collaborate with the Leadership Team to support project planning, staffing, business development, and firmwide initiatives that advance Clanton's growth and market presence.
- Direct and mentor multidisciplinary project teams, providing technical leadership, professional development, resource allocation, and accountability for project outcomes.
- Oversee technical design, quality assurance, code compliance, and application of industry standards for lighting and electrical engineering projects.
- Represent the firm in client meetings, presentations, industry organizations, and professional events while driving innovation, process improvement, and operational excellence.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
In your first 6 to 12 months, success in this role will mean serving as a trusted technical and project leader who consistently delivers high-quality work while strengthening client relationships and supporting the growth of our Team. You will confidently be managing complex projects, overseeing budgets, mentoring Team Members, coordinating effectively with the Leadership Team and clients, and contributing to business development efforts.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering, electrical engineering with a building systems focus, civil engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum of 7 years of project management experience.
- Ability to work in person at our Boulder office 2 days per week.
- Strong professional written and verbal communication, active listening, presentation, and client relationship skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor project teams, allocate resources, and manage complex scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Strong background in EZPower, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
- Mastery of electrical power system and lighting design, including technical review and development of construction documents.
- Expert knowledge of the NEC, electrical utility requirements, IES Recommended Practices, and applicable codes and standards.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 15 years of relevant experience.
- Professional Engineer licenses in Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Texas, and/or California.
- LEED AP, WELL AP, or PMP certifications.
- Familiarity with GIS, MicroStation, SketchUp, Revit, AGi32, and related design tools.
- Experience leading large-scale transportation, urban environment, master planning, civic, academic, or public-impact lighting and electrical projects.
- Demonstrated experience with business development, client relationship management, strategic planning, and staff mentorship.
- Experience using AI responsibly and productively.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

- Salary range: $135,000 to $165,000 per year, depending on skills and experience.
