Clair Health, Inc. Chief of Staff Menlo Park, CA · Full time Company website

This is a role for someone who wants to build a company, or already has. As Chief of Staff, you will work directly with our CEO on whatever matters most to Clair at a given moment. One quarter that might be standing up a new distribution channel; the next it might be running point on a clinical study, a fundraise or a partnership negotiation. You will own projects end to end, from figuring out what the problem is to shipping the answer, and you will see how every part of a hardware, clinical and consumer health company fits together.

Description

About Clair

Clair Health is building a noninvasive, wrist-worn wearable that continuously monitors reproductive hormones, including estrogen, progesterone, LH and FSH. Today, most women learn about their hormones from a single blood draw or not at all. We want to give them a continuous, real-time picture across every life stage, from cycles and fertility to perimenopause. We are backed by a16z Speedrun, Khosla Ventures and Reach Capital.

About the role

This is a role for someone who wants to build a company, or already has. As Chief of Staff, you will work directly with our CEO on whatever matters most to Clair at a given moment. One quarter that might be standing up a new distribution channel; the next it might be running point on a clinical study, a fundraise or a partnership negotiation. You will own projects end to end, from figuring out what the problem is to shipping the answer, and you will see how every part of a hardware, clinical and consumer health company fits together.

The ideal candidate is a former founder, or someone who plans to found a company and wants to learn by doing it alongside us. We expect you to think like an owner, move quickly with incomplete information, and tell the CEO when you think she is wrong. In return, you will get a level of scope, exposure and responsibility that few roles offer, and a direct path to leading a function as the company grows.

What you'll do

Special projects

  • Take on the company's highest-priority problems that don't yet have an owner, and drive them to completion.
  • Launch new initiatives from zero, such as new go-to-market channels, partnerships or business lines, then build the team or process to hand them off.
  • Run diligence and analysis on strategic opportunities and bring a clear recommendation.

Strategy and operating cadence

  • Work with the CEO to set company priorities and goals, and keep the team accountable to them.
  • Run the operating rhythm: leadership meetings, planning cycles, metrics reviews and follow-ups.
  • Identify where the company is getting stuck and fix it, whether that means a new process, a hire or a hard conversation.

Fundraising, board and investors

  • Prepare board meetings, investor updates and fundraising materials.
  • Support investor diligence, data rooms and financial modeling.

Cross-functional execution

  • Coordinate work across hardware, ML, clinical research, regulatory, care delivery and marketing.
  • Help move clinical studies, regulatory milestones and commercial launches forward on schedule.
  • Represent the CEO in meetings with partners, vendors, advisors and candidates.

Team and recruiting

  • Help hire key roles: defining them, sourcing candidates and closing them.
  • Shape the culture, internal communication and ways of working of a company in its early years.

Who you are

  • You have founded a company, or you plan to and want to learn how a venture-backed startup is built from the inside.
  • You want to work hard. You have grit. You are a creative problem solver.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and can take a vague problem, structure it and make progress the same week.
  • You write and communicate clearly, and can switch between a spreadsheet model, a partner pitch and a team update in the same day.
  • You have strong judgment about what matters, and you are willing to push back.
  • You are low ego about the work. No task is too small if it moves the company forward.
  • You care about women's health and want to work on a problem that has been underfunded for too long.

Nice to have

  • Experience in health tech, medical devices, consumer hardware or digital health.
  • Familiarity with clinical research, FDA regulatory pathways or healthcare reimbursement.
  • Experience with fundraising, from either the founder or investor side.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity.
  • Direct mentorship from and partnership with the CEO, plus exposure to our board and investors.
  • Health, dental and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) plan.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • A role that grows with you, with a path to leading a function or starting your own company with our support.
