Quality Assurance Lead

Overview

We're looking for a QA Lead to own software quality across Cidi Labs products. This is a hands-on individual contributor role with no direct reports. You'll lead the QA effort among our developers by setting testing standards, guiding how quality is built into each feature, and holding the bar for every release.

Success requires becoming a product expert. You'll need to understand our applications, customer workflows, and expected behavior well enough to spot gaps in requirements and validate releases with confidence.

Responsibilities

• Own release quality and define the testing strategy and standards across all products.
• Partner with developers so new features ship with appropriate unit and integration tests, and identify and close coverage gaps.
• Maintain a small, reliable end-to-end smoke suite covering critical user workflows.
• Strengthen CI/CD quality gates and establish quality metrics.
• Perform exploratory and regression testing, and investigate defects using browser developer tools, network traffic, logs, and API responses.
• Write clear, reproducible bug reports and verify fixes.
• Work with Product, Engineering, and Business Analysts to improve requirement clarity and testability.
• Mentor developers and interns on testing best practices, fostering shared ownership of quality.

Qualifications

Required

• 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance or test automation for web applications.
• Strong understanding of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies.
• Experience implementing automated testing in CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience validating REST APIs with tools such as Postman.
• Ability to lead through influence, with excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with PHP, React, or JavaScript/TypeScript, and frameworks such as PHPUnit, Jest, Vitest, or Playwright.
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD and cloud-hosted SaaS applications.
• Knowledge of WCAG and accessibility testing.
• Experience in educational technology, instructional design, or Canvas LMS, including Cidi Labs products.

• Higher unit and integration test coverage across all products, backed by a lean E2E smoke suite.
• Fewer regressions and greater release confidence.
• Developers consistently owning quality for the features they build.
