Role: Social Media Manager 

Reports to: Executive Director 

Compensation: $25.00 per hour 

Classification: Part-time, up to 20 hours per week

Role Overview: 

Christopher Street Project is hiring a part-time Social Media Manager to manage the organization’s digital communications. Applicants should have strong writing, organizational, and computer skills; excellent attention to detail; and the ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and take initiative in a fast-paced political environment. The ideal candidate will have experience creating social media content, familiarity with platforms such as Instagram, X, Threads, TikTok, and Facebook, and a strong interest in progressive politics and/or LGBTQ+ advocacy. Experience with graphic design, video editing, and social media analytics is required.

The Social Media Manager position is part-time and paid at $25.00 per hour. The position is limited to approximately 20 hours per week and is primarily remote, with occasional opportunities to support in-person events. Only applicants in the United States will be considered, priority for candidates who are based in Eastern Standard Time.

Responsibilities:

• Run the day-to-day operation of our social media accounts
• Prepare content to review at weekly check-in, including graphics and videos
• Be available for rapid response to high-stakes political and legislative moments
• Create graphics for social media, events, and campaigns
• Maintain a content calendar
• Monitor news for rapid-response opportunities
• Craft digital toolkits for major campaigns (ex. Trans Day of Visibility)
• Craft content plans for events and incorporate those plans into the existing content calendar (ex. fundraisers)
• Collaborate with contracted digital fundraising and public relations firms
• Coordinate cross-posting and content amplification with coalition partners and endorsers
• Build relationships with creators, influencers, partner organizations, and elected officials’ digital teams
• Monitor performance analytics to improve reach and engagement
• Manage paid advertising on social media platforms

Experience: 

• 1-3 years of experience managing social media accounts for an organization, campaign, elected official, nonprofit, brand, or similar entity.
• Demonstrated experience with graphic design, video editing, and social media analytics is required.
• Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex political and policy issues into concise and engaging digital content.
• Familiarity with major social media platforms, including Instagram, X, Threads, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
• Experience using design and video-editing tools. Options may include Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or similar platforms.
• Ability to interpret performance data and use analytics to improve content, reach, and engagement.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and respond quickly in a fast-paced political environment.
• Personal experience with the issue area is preferred.

Role Compensation:
