Community Storehouse has been serving children and families in Tarrant County since 1984. We believe education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and are seeking a passionate individual to help lead and coordinate our educational initiatives.
Position Summary
The Education Coordinator will oversee and support the implementation of Community Storehouse’s educational programs, including after-school tutoring, summer learning, enrichment programs, and academic support initiatives. This role is ideal for a retired certified teacher or school professional with a heart for serving at-risk youth and helping them achieve academic success.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise tutoring and academic support programs such as spring and summer camps across designated school districts (e.g., Keller ISD, Northwest ISD, Argyle ISD).
- Recruit, train, and support volunteer tutors and mentors.
- Assess student academic needs and track progress using pre/post-assessments and reporting tools.
- Liaise with school staff, parents, and volunteers to ensure strong communication and partnership.
- Organize educational events, family engagement nights, and summer learning activities.
- Ensure program fidelity and compliance with any grant-related reporting or evaluation.
- Maintain accurate records and data for each student served.
- Assist in curriculum planning and enrichment activity development as needed.
- Work within a team setting to create a positive workplace environment.
- Be willing to assist outside of normal business hours for special events and activities.
- Schedule will be afternoon into early evenings Monday - Thursday, some Friday mornings during the school year.
- During Spring Break and Summer, hours will be modified.
Qualifications
- Certified teacher, administrator, or school counselor (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field (required).
- 10+ years of experience in a school or academic setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for helping underserved students succeed.
- Familiarity with Texas school standards and student assessment tools.
- Ability to work flexible part-time hours, including occasional evenings.
- Must be able to lift 20lbs
- Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Work Environment
- Combination of on-site at Community Storehouse, local schools, and occasional off-site events.
- Light travel within Tarrant County.
- Supportive, mission-driven team environment.
