Children’s Discovery Center Central is located in the historical Hyde Park neighborhood, just blocks from the University of Texas. Situated on the corner of 42nd St. and Duval in a large Victorian house, children play in home-like, naturally lit classrooms, and outdoors on large pecan tree-shaded playgrounds. Each classroom has its own dedicated outdoor space, so children spend the vast majority of the day outdoors. ​

The Children's Discovery Center is looking for full-time infant teacher to join our wonderful community of learners and explorers. The schedule is Monday-Friday from 8:15am-5:15pm with a 1 hour lunch break mid-day.

Experience working in a licensed childcare facility with children aged 0-12 months is highly recommended, but not required if other qualifications are met.

Education in early childhood development is highly recommended but not required.

Compensation is set with a scale beginning at $18/hr and up to $24/hr for full-time preschool/toddler teachers and increases based on your level of education and experience. Our hours of operation are 7:30am-5:30pm and we are open Monday-Friday. Full-time shifts are typically 6-7.5 hours.

Job Description: As a Teacher at Children's Discovery Center, you are responsible for creating a curriculum and guidance in your classroom that are developmentally appropriate and supportive for the children in your care. This includes but is not limited to the maintenance of the physical classroom and playground environments, communication with families, and ongoing training and learning in child development-related topics.

The classrooms at CDC are structured so that Teachers work together in cooperation with one another to provide their children with a wonderful and meaningful experience at school. Our classrooms follow a co-teaching model where all Teachers assigned to a classroom (3) have the responsibility of ensuring the management of each aspect of their classroom. This classroom structure requires Teachers to communicate effectively with one another in order to come to a consensus as to the management of the classroom affairs.
