The Case Manager provides child victims and their families with referrals to appropriate mental health providers and to facilitate follow-up with providers to ensure a smooth transition and improve the healing process for child victims of sexual and physical abuse.
The role of the Case Manager is to provide child victims and their families with referrals to appropriate mental health providers and to facilitate follow-up with providers to ensure a smooth transition and improve the healing process for child victims of sexual and physical abuse. The Case Manager will also assist families in accessing Victim Compensation services and scheduling medical appointments with professionals who have specialized skills in providing therapeutically and forensically sound follow-up care.
As a member of the CAC, the Case Manager will:
- Meet with non-offending caregivers to gather necessary information for appropriate therapeutic services.
- Provide parents with psycho-educational materials about their children's behavior.
- Offer information on the medical evaluations available at the CAC.
- Make proactive referrals to suitable therapists or agencies for children and family members affected by child abuse.
- Follow up with families to ensure they have access to mental health and other necessary services.
- Assist victims and families in applying for victim compensation.
