Cephable Director of Enterprise Sales Wilmington, MA · Remote · Full time Company website

We're hiring one person to own enterprise sales end to end — no team, no leads handed to you, no ceiling on year-one earnings. If you've personally closed six-figure deals and want to build the motion you'll eventually lead, keep reading; if you need a machine behind you, this isn't it.

About Cephable

Cephable is an on-device productivity assistant that helps people control, create, and automate their work across personal and professional workflows. Built on universal-design principles, Cephable adapts to the way each person works best, and it does so privately: everything runs on the device, so a person's and a business's data is never processed in the cloud. We're a small, fast-moving team building category-defining software, and we go to market alongside the world's leading technology partners.

Description

Read this whole posting before you apply. It's written to tell you the truth about the job, not to sell you on it. If the truth excites you, we should talk. If it doesn't, we've both saved ourselves some time.

The short version

Cephable is a small software company with real product, real partners, and a finite runway. We're hiring one person to own enterprise sales end to end. Not a team, yet. Not a territory carved out of an existing book. One seller, one number, and the job of building the enterprise motion from the ground up while closing deals along the way.

The title is “Director” because we're looking for someone with the experience and polish to sit across from a Fortune 1000 buyer and win. It is not because you'll have an army of people reporting to you on day one. You won't. You'll have a laptop, a product that's genuinely good, a founder who will get in the room for the deals that matter, and a mandate to go close.

On-target earnings are $280,000 (50% base, 50% commission), uncapped in year one. If you crush it, you make more — a lot more. If you don't, this isn't the job for you, and the plan is built so you'll feel that.

What you'll actually do

Prospect, qualify, and close direct enterprise deals — full cycle, top to bottom. You'll build your own pipeline, run your own discovery, navigate procurement and security reviews and legal redlines, multi-thread across stakeholders, and carry deals across the line yourself. You'll also do the unglamorous part: build the playbook as you go, because right now it lives in a few people's heads and needs to live on paper. What you learn in the field becomes how this company sells.

Expected deal sizes run $50,000 to $200,000 today, and we believe they climb from there as we win reference logos. You'll be selling a product that keeps every bit of customer data on the user's own device and never touches the cloud — a real differentiator in security-conscious enterprise conversations, and one you'll need to be able to defend in a room full of skeptical technical buyers.

Who we're actually looking for

•   You've personally closed six-figure enterprise deals. Repeatedly. You can point to logos and numbers, not just “involvement.”

•   You know the enterprise motion cold — champions and economic buyers, security questionnaires, procurement gauntlets, mutual action plans, the works. None of this is new to you.

•   You're exceptional in the room. Extremely professional, genuinely well-spoken, and credible with a CISO, a VP of IT, and a procurement lead in the same afternoon.

•   You move fast through slow environments. The gap between a nine-month close and an eighteen-month stall is you, and you know how to compress it.

•   You are completely comfortable being a team of one. No SDR feeding you leads. No marketing engine. No manager checking your pipeline daily. You are self-directed or you are miserable here.

•   You want to build something and lead it eventually — and you're willing to carry a bag to earn that.

Who this job is NOT for

We're being direct because it's kinder than wasting your time:

•   If you need inbound leads handed to you, this isn't it.

•   If you need a big-company machine — enablement, ops, an SE on every call (even the non-technical ones), a comp plan that pays you for activity — this isn't it. We're a garage, not a machine, and we'll tell you that on day one.

•   If “Director” to you means managing people rather than closing deals, this isn't it. Not yet.

•   If a long, uncertain enterprise sales cycle with a startup's runway underneath it makes you anxious rather than motivated, this isn't it.

•   If you want to coast on a base salary, the commission split will make sure you don't want to stay.

None of that is a knock on anyone. It's just an honest description of a specific job for a specific kind of person.

Why it's worth it

This is a ground-floor seat with a real opportunity. The person who proves they can close the enterprise and build the motion is the natural candidate to build and lead the sales organization as the company grows. We're not going to write you a promotion timeline we can't guarantee — but the path is real, the ceiling is high, and the person who earns it will have built the thing they get to run.

Year-one upside is uncapped. You'll have a founder who shows up for the deals that matter, a product that wins on its merits, and the rare chance to define how an entire company goes to market — and to be paid like an owner when you do it well.

Compensation & logistics

•   OTE: $280,000 — $140,000 base, $140,000 target commission (50/50), uncapped in year one, with accelerators above quota

•   Meaningful equity — you'll be building the go-to-market you get to own a piece of

•   A first-year ramp structure so you're not living on zero while long deals mature

•   Remote, US-based; you'll work across enterprise buyers' time zones
