The Center for Climate Integrity (CCI) seeks a Research Intern to support the organization’s work to help communities hold oil and gas corporations accountable for the massive costs of climate change.


Description

The Research Intern will help investigate the role of oil and gas corporations in deceiving the public about climate change. This part-time, remote internship will run from the end of May to August 2025 with flexible start and end dates. CCI will provide a monthly stipend of $1,500 (prorated as applicable).


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze documents and information relevant to fossil fuel company accountability efforts from a wide variety of primary and secondary sources, including: media, trade publications, archival documents, academic journals, and others.
  • Utilize various software programs to organize documents and evidence according to established systems and provide support in refining these systems as necessary.
  • Assist in planning and preparing internal and public-facing materials, including reports, memoranda, and other materials.
  • Participate in (virtual) team meetings and collaborate with the investigative team on strategies to further the organization’s mission.
  • Interns should expect to work 25-30 hours per week on a regular schedule agreed upon with their supervisor for a period of at least 10 weeks.


Qualifications

  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Experience reviewing, synthesizing, and analyzing primary source documents. 
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in self-directed work and effectively manage your own time.
  • Excellent communications and time management skills.
  • Commitment to working as a part of a nimble, mission-driven team.
  • Preferred: familiarity with corporate accountability and/or climate litigation. 
  • Preferred: experience working on collaborative research projects..


Technology Requirements 

CCI is an all-remote organization, and interns will need to arrange for some of their own infrastructure and tools, including a personal computer and workspace with reliance internet connection. 


Compensation and Benefits

  • $1,500 per month stipend, paid at the end of each month and prorated as applicable.
  • Supervision and mentoring from the Research Team.
  • Letter of recommendation upon successful completion of the internship.
