Role Description:
A top-rated health system is actively seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Director, who is also a qualified Medical Doctor, to oversee our thriving psychiatry department. In this leadership role, the successful candidate will combine clinical responsibilities with administrative duties, promoting a patient-centered approach while ensuring a high standard of mental health services.
Role Responsibilities:
· Lead and supervise the psychiatric team, including psychiatrists, nurses, and other mental health professionals.
· Collaborate with healthcare professionals and administrators to enhance patient care and services.
· Ensure the facility complies with healthcare laws, regulations, and standards.
· Assist in diagnosing and treating mental illnesses, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and others.
· Implement patient management plans and write prescriptions under the supervision of a psychiatrist.
· Oversee clinical peer reviews, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Assist in hiring, training, and development of department staff.
· Conduct regular staff meetings and performance reviews.
· Keep up to date with the latest psychiatric treatments and trends.
Qualifications:
· A Master's Degree from an accredited Medical Doctor’s Degree
· Current license to practice as a Psychiatrist in the State of Maryland.
· Must be authorized to prescribe Schedule II-V controlled substances in the state of Maryland. Prior experience as Medical Director/leadership for at least 3 years.
· Significant experience in psychiatry, with previous managerial or supervisory roles highly desirable.
· Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with patients and healthcare staff.
· Proficiency in the latest mental health research and treatment protocols.
· Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to work with minimum supervision and function as a team member while also having experience in management skills, quality improvement, and managed care programs.
· Has the experience and ability to work with people of diverse cultural, educational, socio-economic, and linguistic backgrounds.
