Job Title: Project Air Quality Scientist/Engineer

Purpose: 

CDH Consulting is seeking a mid-level Project Air Quality Scientist/Engineer to join our growing Air Quality team. This position will support air quality permitting and compliance projects in the U.S. oil and gas upstream and midstream markets.  

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate complex schedules involving multiple project managers, equipment, and field staff for LDAR (leak detection and repair) monitoring programs. 
  • Track and manage LDAR compliance with various regulations affecting inspection frequencies, ensuring all activities meet required standards and timelines. 
  • Perform air compliance and permitting tasks for upstream oil and gas sites.  
  • Conduct air emissions calculations for permitting, emissions inventories, annual compliance reporting, and greenhouse gas reports. 
  • Conduct peer review of teammates’ calculations and reports, providing constructive feedback.  
  • Prepare and submit air permit applications to state and federal agencies.  
  • Utilize emissions modeling software (such as BRE ProMax).  
  • Become an expert in state, federal, tribal, and local air compliance and permitting regulations and assist clients in implementing operational and reporting requirements. 
  • Provide guidance to clients for site design/operations to ensure compliance with regulations.  
  • Act as a liaison between clients and regulatory agencies.  
  • Periodic short-duration travel to client field sites to conduct site inspections and support air monitoring programs may be required. 
  • Work independently in a remote home-office environment, with up to two days per week working with the air quality team in a co-working space if located in Denver, CO. 

 

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • 3-7 years of experience in air quality permitting and compliance. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or related field required. 
  • Professional demeanor, strong technical writing skills, and experience writing technical reports. 
  • Proficient in MS Suite, particularly in Excel, Word, and Visio.  
  • Strong attention to detail and able to follow specific directions on tasks.  
  • Team player: receptive to feedback and open to constructive criticism. 
  • Problem-solving abilities: address scheduling conflicts and regulatory compliance issues efficiently. 
  • Time management: prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and maintain project timelines. 
  • LDAR/OGI inspection experience strongly preferred.  
  • Direct experience with state and federal environmental regulations, such as NSPS OOOOa/b. 
  • Experience with midstream oil & gas operations is a plus. 
  • Ability to read through complex state and federal regulations to determine applicability to varying client facilities and scenarios.  
  • Capable of managing projects, meeting budgets, and being the main point of communication for client contact. 

 

Compensation and Benefits 

  • Base Salary $80,000 to $110,000 per year

Actual pay may be more or less than the posted range, depending on numerous factors, including experience, geographical location, market conditions, education/training and skill level, and does not include bonuses, other forms of compensation or benefits.
