Basic Function:

To support wellness and recovery within a recuperative care facility by performing custodial and hospitality duties, assisting residents and staff as directed, providing supportive services to individuals recovering from acute medical conditions in a respite care environment, and performing related duties as assigned.


Examples of Work Performed

  • Promote a diverse, culturally competent, and trauma-informed workplace.
  • Welcome, greet, and assist clients and visitors politely, addressing their needs, answering questions, and directing individuals to the appropriate person or resource.
  • Accurately communicate relevant information to appropriate staff and maintain consistent record-keeping aligned with program requirements.
  • Enter client information into the Client Tracking System upon admission to the facility.
  • Perform janitorial tasks, including laundry services, cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, bathrooms and common areas, light exterior trash pick-up including clearing building entrances and exits of snow and debris, and ensuring a sanitary and safe environment for clients and staff.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, food, and wellness items provided to residents.
  • Assist with the preparation, distribution, and delivery of meals and beverages, ensuring residents receive nutritious and appropriate dietary options.
  • Monitor safety concerns and respond as necessary to maintain a secure, respectful, and calming environment for clients.
  • Wear personal protective equipment, such as gloves and masks, as required.
  • Clean Care Chexx vehicles used for resident transportation and assist with waste management tasks.
  • Transport residents to and from medical appointments, follow-up care, and the recuperative care facility using program vehicles, depending on assignment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Sufficient to perform the functions of the position. May have obtained these skills through completion of a High School Diploma or equivalency.


Experience:

None required. Experience in caregiving, custodial services, or working in health or social service settings is preferred.


Other:

Ability to work overnight shifts. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Certifications/Licensure:

Driver's License valid for the class of vehicle to be driven, depending on assignment.


Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility:

None.


Work Environment:

Work is performed in a recuperative care facility. Tasks involve standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing, and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds; may push items weighing up to 100 pounds while moving carts or similar devices. May be exposed to infectious diseases during cleaning or while interacting with residents. Work involves handling cleaning products and potential exposure to bodily fluids, all weather conditions, odors from soiled items, dust, and noise.

  • Direct contact with individuals experiencing homelessness, including those with infectious or other complex health conditions. Care Chexx personnel must complete a baseline individual TB risk assessment, symptom screening, and TB testing (e.g., TB skin test or TB blood test) upon hire/pre-placement.
  • Care Chexx workforce members are recommended to be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19.
  • Care Chexx workforce members are recommended to be fully vaccinated against Hepatitis B upon hire with (2 dose series of Heplisav-B with doses separated by at least 30 days). All persons refusing vaccination must sign disclosure of refusal. 


Internal/External Relationships:

  • Daily contact with residents to provide support, assist with wellness needs, and maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
  • Ongoing communication with Care Chexx staff and supervisors regarding assignments, resident concerns, and inventory needs.
  • Contact with visitors to provide directions or answer questions.
  • Interaction with maintenance staff to report equipment repair needs.

Salary

$25.5 - $31.71 per hour
