Job Summary: 

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Process Engineer to join our team. As a Process Engineer, you will design and optimize process equipment, develop simulations, and provide technical solutions in various industries, including but not limited to iron and steel, aluminum, and mining. You will play a crucial role in delivering engineering deliverables, leading small teams, and enabling pilot demonstration tests. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects and drive innovation in the field.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead multiple studies and design packages, from concept to front-end engineering design (FEED).
  • Ensure effective modelling, process design and optimization using chemical process simulators (Aspen Plus etc.)
  • Develop process simulations, heat, and material balances (H&MBs),
  • Process flow diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to support project deliverables.
  • Provide expertise in process design and optimization for carbon management and resource recovery and other industrial projects.
  • Provide technical support during start-up and field operations of carbon management plants and other industrial facilities.
  • Troubleshoot plant operations, identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with end-users, equipment suppliers, and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firms to ensure project success.
  • Participate in planning, cost development, scheduling, and execution of assigned projects.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and stakeholders to ensure specifications, codes, and standards adherence.
  • Maintain effective communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Provide on-site support, conduct assessments, and contribute to project activities.

 

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related technical field.
  • 2+ years of full-time work experience, with expertise in process design, optimization, and simulation.
  • 2+ years of experience with Chemical Process Simulators (Aspen etc.), FEED and Basic Engineering Packages.

 

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or related technical field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with plant start-up and troubleshooting.

 

Additional Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to travel to industrial sites as required, approximately 20% of the time.
  • Strong technical fluency with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with engineering organizations, such as EPC or process licensing firms.
  • Knowledge of electrochemistry, separation and crystallization technologies, and carbon capture.
  • Ability to work effectively in a small, dynamic, and entrepreneurial environment with high flexibility and adaptability.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, including the ability to collaborate across dispersed teams.

Salary

$65,000 - $95,000 per year
