Job Description:

3/9/2023 Update: anticipated start in June 2023.

The IT Systems Administrator will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day IT and cybersecurity needs for the for organization. You will support a team of approximately 20 staff members with a mix of on-site team members and remote team members, on-premise data servers and cloud computing systems.   

The IT Systems Administrator reports to the Chief Operating Officer and has the following responsibilities:

• Maintain essential IT operations including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software and hardware;
• Support office and case management applications, remote access systems, backup systems and disaster recovery plans;
• Monitor network and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability - including scheduling updates outside normal business hours to minimize disruptions;
• Manage Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace
• Monitor system health, security, and cybersecurity threats;
• Develop and organize training and video tutorials;
• Optimize processes and lead process improvements;
• Manage special projects; and,
• Other duties as assigned.

Required skills:

• Experience in ISO27001 certification
• Microsoft 365 administration
• Google Workspace administration
• Azure Active Directory management
•  Microsoft SharePoint administration including custom user permissions at the library and folder levels
• Single Sign On implementation
• AWS cloud security
• Mobile Device Management
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, DNS and DHCP
• Firewalls and web application firewalls
• Current knowledge and training related to cybersecurity best practices
• Four or more years of experience working in Information Technology systems in an administrative and technical capacity
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, problem solving, organizational, and time management skills
• Willingness and ability to learn and adapt to new technology.
• Occasional moderate lifting of physical hardware and equipment

Desired skills:

• Slack workspace administration
• Information management and documentation software experience (Wiki, Atlassian Confluence, Stack Exchange)
• Web conferencing hardware and software

Location:  Remote with occasional travel to the Carbon Mapper office in Pasadena, CA to maintain and troubleshoot on-premise computing hardware and networking equipment. Carbon Mapper has a distributed team with both in-person and remote workers.

Hours & Compensation: approximately 20 hours per week with occasional need for more hours via contract, contract-to-hire, or W2 employment. 

Compensation is $40.00-$100.00/hour depending on experience and qualifications.
