Canterbury Press is looking for a full-time Offset Press Helper to join our knowledgeable team. This position is full-time and works on a 3-days on and 4-days off schedule. As Offset Press Helper, you will be responsible for a combination of tasks; including by not limited to, press setup, press maintenance, press operations, and other support tasks. The selected candidate will need to be familiar with the requirements of an offset press room. You will work closely with the Director of Operations and Offset Press Operators on day-to-day responsibilities.
Description
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the Offset Press Operator.
- Advance staging of necessary components and materials for scheduled job for the press.
- Partner with the Offset Press Operator to set up job runs; which include but are not limited to, paper, ink, water chemistry, feeder, and feed board.
- Assist the Offset Press Operator in the production of high-quality products; which include but are not limited to, make-ready, wash-ups, and general press maintenance.
- Maintain a running press, set up the feed, and utilize a continuous feeder system with minimal knock-offs.
- Together with the Offset Press Operator, work to meet customer requirements, quality standards, expected run speeds, and productivity standards while ensuring a safe and clean work environment.
- Identify work order errors and communicate problems to the supervisor.
- Collaborate with other team members to complete orders in an accurate and efficient manner.
- Communicate job progress or concerns with team members or the supervisor.
- Perform regular maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Rapidly change focus when needed to accommodate project changes.
- Successfully complete assigned tasks and projects.
- Keep the work area neat, clean, and well organized.
- Work overtime as necessary.
- Meet all defined department standards for quality, productivity, efficiency, and waste.
- Comply with all safety and health policies, procedures, and practices; actively support safety improvement initiatives; use materials and equipment in an appropriate and safe manner; carry out all tasks in a manner so as not to create a hazard to themselves or others.
- Performs other duties and tasks as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of applicable experience in an offset press room.
- Experience in the commercial printing industry.
- Ability to sit/walk/stand for up to 12 hours per day and able to intermittently squat, bend, stoop, push, and pull.
